View Full Version : Ashes 09 - out friday
Anyone gonna be picking this one up? i didnt even realise there was a new game coming, i presume it'll be the same engine as previous Brian Lara games which is all good fun.
Its ace fun 2 vs 2.
Anyone played a demo or anything?
i presume the xbox live of this will be dead though as the previous games

You know there is a demo on live now right? 3 overs trial. I didn't think much of it to be honest.

ok if you have an xbox360 but us poor ps3 owners have to wait  any shops selling this before release day
Wasn't blown away by it at all.
Not sure about the 360 version, played the demo and didn't think it was that different from the Brian Lara game.
However, I just saw an advert for the Wii version, that might be alright with the wii remote if done right (which unfortunately will be unlikely).

Seemed OK, but the price of this will drop like a rock in a few weeks time

Not sure where, but I remember reading a couple of weeks back that the Wii version is just going to involve swinging the remote and pressing a particular button to select a certain type of shot, from what it said, it doesn't make any difference to the shot no matter how you swing the remote. Maybe if they ever make another version, it'll support motion plus.
Played the demo, which was ok but i am not rushing to buy it. Can anyone report a worse first go - 50 runs/0 wickets to my 6 runs/3 wickets.

managed to get the full ps3 version yesterday afternoon not bad considering all tho brett lee bowled me with a 100mph delivery now I know hes quick but not that quick lol
You're right, his fastest ever recorded speed is only 99.9mph (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Maximum_bowling_speed_of_brett_lee) ;)
:oh-hum:
There is already a thread (http://thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=570304&highlight=ashes) for this game, you know.

I got the PC version from Amazon this morning for £18. I have always enjoyed the cricket games from Codemasters over the junk from EA Sports. I think this is a decent effort overall but a little shallow on game modes.

Not a bad game but not that much different from the last Brian Lara release.
Found a little glitch this weekend. Opposition batsmen went for a run but both ended up at the same end after one turned around. Keeper took the bails off with both in the crease but didn't throw to the other end and they were given not out!!
What are the confirmed squads, im more looking at India's squad
been trying to find it online, anyone got any info?
cheers
Yeah, I'm quite enjoying it so far, not sure if I'll stick with it though. Had one online game and seem a bit laggy?

Been playing this non-stop since Thursday. Won the Ashes and am just collecting some trophies now. Very enjoyable - haven't played Brian Lara's for a while but this seems to have more shots to play and balls to bowl? Regardless, its pretty cool.
Anyone having any luck with this?
Seems ******* hard to make a decent score.
I've finished the game in terms of trophies and don't think I'll come back to it. I found wining the Ashes on normal fairly easy once I'd played each bowler a few times - I then knew roughly when to play to time their normal speed balls. My best opening partnership was well over 200.
