I didn't know there was a WS version? (Havem't read up on this title much though TBH).
Mine is WS, got it yesterday from MT.

Not a bad film, very odd but not bad (excellent effects).

EDIT: Doh, check the mistake! lol
Should read, didn't know there was a P&S version! :brickwall

As far as I am concerned nothing will have changed in the level of service Ring0s offer their customers.

If mine is P&S as opposed to WS then I am sure that Stu will change it promptly as he has always done in the past.

if the P&S version is ok i will probably just keep it

Ringo's are fine with returns and even offer a freepost address for you to send the discs to. You'll find it on their website.

By no means my first order from Ringos, and as I'm confident they'll replace it quickly and efficiently, probably not my last!

I've maybe had 200+ dvd's from Ringos but the service seems to be going down hill all the time....and i think for 2 reasons-
1 - too much success, as they get more customers, they get more orders= more work = slower times+ more mistakes.
2 - the bloody phones. I always ordered my films over the phone, speaking to Angie. And 9 out of 10 times, the movies would arrive next day. Now I have given up on the phone service..(.months ago )...the e-mail ordering never seems to get the same first class results .
Oh well, they r still the best though.

p.s. I am still waiting for A.I ( W.S i hope ) and zoolander.

Nor me. Got the same reply from Ringos as all of you

I ordered it for last weekend as well. Heres hoping for this Saturday. I am not confident though, as they've got my money!

My first order with Ringos, as it said In-stock and ready to post last Wednesday.

Won't be ordering again, I'll stick with slow but reliable Play

Worst thing is I got 5 packages of mail this morning, all of which were mailed either sunday or monday. So the "posted on friday" message from ringo seems a little dodgy to me.
And yeh, Play247 have always been good to me :D , just wish they could get their films quicker !

If PLAY got all of their films the same time as ********* and (supposedly) Ringos, they would put everyone else out of business. I don't need this f*+%ing hassle, do you know what I mean!

RIGHT I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF ROYAL MAILS DELAYING TACTICS , SO I'M PUTTING IN A CLAIM NOW NOW FOR THE ENTIRE MAILOUT FROM LAST FRIDAY!

A.I. region 1 : i'll mailout replacements THIS AFTERNOON , if anyone receives a duplicate delivery plaese use our FREEPOST facility to send one order or the other back to us.

ZOOLANDER: we don't have enough stock to cover every REPLACEMENT this afternoon so we'll borrow somestock from a friend this evening and MAILOUT REPLACEMENTS WEDNESDAY

LAST CASTLE : i've got hundreds of these spare so i'll do the replacements TODAY!

THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANYONE TO FILL IN "CLAIM FORMS" OR PANIC AND COMPLAIN TO ROYAL MAIL THE PROBELM IS AT OUR END AND WE'LL DEAL WITH IT! as EVRYONE should KNOW by now in these FORUMS , its upto the POSTEE ( thats me cos i stamp em ) to claim from ROYAL MAIL not the ADDRESSEE ( thats who it should be delivered to ) .

I'VE GOT NO IDEA WHERE SOME PEOPLE GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT ITS UPTO THE PERSON RECEIVING MAIL TO CLAIM FROM RM , ITS ALWAYS BEEN ROYAL MAILS POLICY TO DEAL WITH THE PERSON PUTTING THE STAMPS ON AN ENVELOPE ( that the only person forming a contract of delivery )

SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE CAUSED

Stu - as you will be aware, it is now not permitted for you to answer questions regarding Ring0s or post in any threads relating to your business, as you no longer have this privilege. You are welcome to use the forums just like any other member, but we would ask you to not to post in any Ring0s related threads, nor promote your business on the forums.

If anyone has any questions which require a direct response from Stu, then please email him direct, rather then posting your questions here. Thanks.

lol, how pathetic is that?
Personally, I will now go to the trouble of going direct to any site I find out about through these forums, avoiding your affiliate links.

That post helped out a lot of your readers. I realise it's your prerogative (although this is more like a police state than a community), but he was hardly advertising was he? Just righting a wrong.

Especially as it seems their forum sponsorship was taken away rather than withdrawn. Can anyone say power trip?

huh?

fair enough, Stu's post was useful but the admins are only trying to prevent suppliers (non sponsers) from using the forums to conduct their business. If the supplier/customer wants to communicate with each other regarding orders then they can do it directly. I don't see anything wrong with that.

montevideo - If you took the time to read the T&C's of these forums, you would see that my post is perfectly valid and is not an attempt at, as you say, a power trip.

Stu can obviously help via email and answer any questions that members may have privately, but as a non-sponsor he is not permitted to post anything that is considered to be self-promotion.

If you consider this place to be a 'police state' (bearing in mind that this is a moderated forum), then why are you here? Even though you obviously see us being draconian, no-one's forcing you to stay.

I found out about Ringos through this site and ordered from them as a result. A lot of others obviously did too. They've had a problem and were just explaining the situation to people who ordered through them as a result of their sponsorship of this site.

"Why should suppliers who make no financial contribution to blah blah"? Because in this case they're helping out people with an issue that spans both their sponsorship and non-sponsorship of the forums. They're HELPING (not advertising or anything like that) the ordinary people who financially contribute to the site by clicking your affiliate links.

I find it petty, and yes pathetic that they aren't 'permitted' to help people who bought from them solely as a result of this forum.

And why am I here? Because I'm interested in DVDs, and this is the busiest and therefore best forum. But that doesn't make me a sheep that automatically agrees with everything in the precious 't&cs' (which I'm probably breaking by not worshipping the mods?).

Sorry, but I don't agree that this Ringos message was in any way bad. If it broke the terms and conditions then the 'law' is an ass.

Ban me if you want. I'll just read in future if my views are unacceptable.

Unfortunately Stu should not now be in able to answer queries in much the same way as craig@*********.com should not.

I am pretty sure the Admin and mods are as disappointed about what's happened as the rest (well, most) of us but you can't have one rule for Stu and another rule for others no matter how much Stu's money kept these forums afloat in the past. :D

I don't want to have a go at Craig either, but isn't Craig@*********.com advertising too? I remember the Mods having a go at Peter@interdvd.com before he was a sponsor about his name. :D

Agreed, but to do so is considered self-promotion. We apply this rule to every non-sponsor, as it is considered unfair to those companies to pay to promote their business here. I've had an email from Stu who doesn't have a problem with my post, so I don't know why you're banging on about it.

So if you were to work for a retailer and you left would you still be entitled to get your staff discount?

Stu can help as many forum members as he likes via email - all we ask is to keep it off the forums.

We have affiliate links so the members can support the site wherever possible. Most actively seek out or request these links because they obviously appreciate getting the advice that they need or Kodak camera bargains and feel that they want to give something back. That is community spirit for you, not your statement saying that you won't put any commission the forums way but you're quite happy to use the site to pick up all the bargains you can for free. Obviously, it's your choice what link you order through though.

I find it petty, and yes pathetic that they aren't 'permitted' to help people who bought from them solely as a result of this forum.

It's got nothing to do with being petty. The forums don't run themselves for free and the sponsors income helps pay for the running costs in order to expose their business to the member base here. If we were to allow non-sponsors (or ex-sponsors) to promote their business for free, the paying sponsors would soon get annoyed with this and possibly withdraw their sponsorship, which means there wouldn't be any forums at all.

And why am I here? Because I'm interested in DVDs, and this is the busiest and therefore best forum. But that doesn't make me a sheep that automatically agrees with everything in the precious 't&cs' (which I'm probably breaking by not worshipping the mods?).

Then you shouldn't have signed up then. You agreed with them the minute you clicked on the 'I agree' link on the main page so your argument looks contridictory to say the least.

Sorry, but I don't agree that this Ringos message was in any way bad. If it broke the terms and conditions then the 'law' is an ass.

I don't think that Stu's message is bad at all and I'm not trying to rain on his parade, but we have to apply the same rule to every member.

Ban me if you want.

You still here aren't you? Not bad coming from a 'police state' wouldn't you think?

I'll just read in future if my views are unacceptable.

I was also supposed to be getting A.I., Zoolander and Jay & Silent Bob Last Friday (order confirmed & shipped Thursday).
Still havent received anything yet and have sent 2 emails with no response. My CC has been debited and I am starting to get a little worried now????

I have read elsewhere that they have had loads of orders going missing due to Royal Mail loosing them etc. I dont really buy this, I think there is something else going on.

To be honest the last 3 or 4 orders I have placed have either been short or missing etc. Dont know what is happening to their service but if it doesnt improve real soon I shall go elsewhere.

A shame because I like Angie and they are usually excellent!!

Even though they are slower I never had many problems with Play and ordered nearly 200 disks with them!

Looking through the various ringo's posts, and noting how many times they have to resend orders due to being "Lost in the postage system"
If this is true, they must be losing shed loads of money, and one hell of an insurance claim on the Royal Mail Postage system.

Surely this cannot be right, my company mails out hundreds of letters and parcels a day, we don't have a fraction of the lost mail problems that Ringo's has.

Maybe there is a "Ringos Saboteur" working for The royal Mail too ?

Personally i doubt it

who the hell do the administrators think they are telling stu not to answer any questions posed by people useng the forums, well im sorry but i think if people post a question for stu tp answer on this forum then i think we all expect it to be answered by stu. This forum is controlled by lunatics. Does this mean that is i post a thread relating to say dixons does this mean that dixons has to sponsor you before they can answer a question. If this forum is open to members of the public then stu is welcome to use it as a member of the public. It doesnt sound like he's doing deals over on your forum hes just answering questions! I think the administrators are getting under hands for supporting ********* or whatever its called i wouldnt know because id never use the place ill stick with using the best service with ringo's. Yes stu is welcome to use the site as a member of the public, as long as he is not advertising, which he knows all about.

When did you last pay the server bill? The people who come on the site dont put that much into it, it is the sponsors and the site owners who pay for it, but if you wish you can always send a donation.

dtsrules, you make a couple of fair points but I have to take issue with your comment above. This is simply untrue. You wouldn’t have any advertisers if they didn’t see that this forum is frequented by a large number of people who in turn are the Forums’ most valuable resource. As with any on-line board of this type, without the members it’s nothing - they’re the ones who bring the information back, track the bargains down, post the reviews. It’s this content that others visit the site to read not the advertising or the sponsorship banners, content that would not exist were it not for the good will of people who post on a daily basis. Their contribution is invaluable and it is impossible to put a monetary figure on it but if this good will dried up overnight so would your sponsors and advertisers because it’s us, the members that they’re trying to reach.

You also seem to be casually dismissing the hard work of the reviewers who do a job, free of charge, that in the outside world would earn them a living wage. I expect they get an occasional freebie but even this does not fully make up for their input but I’m sure they don’t mind as they enjoy it and are happy to give something back, although if I were a reviewer who’d just read your comments I wouldn’t be feeling so charitable.

I moderate the Bargains forum at www.dvdtalk,com and frankly if I regarded the people who post to it as unimportant as you seem to be inferring, I’d give up the job.

The members are everything - you wouldn’t have a site without them, the rest is just the mechanics of paying the bills.

By the way have now received Zoolander so thats all of them.

Still havent recieved any responses to my emails from which to me is very bad. The overall tone of my emails was not a happy one and yet I still have had no explanation as to why things have been so crap lately??

I've already commented back in October 2001, that if we are to have a Supplier Forum, then Suppliers should have a RIGHT OF REPLY, even if they are non-sponsors.

There really is no point even having this thread if Suppliers are going to have to hand over brown envelopes before they can assist.

Here was my suggestion:

I've noticed a worrying trend where lately retailers such InterDVD / Devoted / EasyDVD are immediately asked to sponsor the site when answering queries in The Supplier Forum, or to refrain from posting.
It seems to me if you allow threads talking about these suppliers, you need to allow them the right of reply, otherwise this is starting to smack of a cash-for-questions type thing.
As a compromise, I suggest allowing them to post, but they are not allowed a linking signature to their site, as this would be unfair to paying sponsors.

Good post Andy. The slapdowns that both ********* and Ringos have received from Mods lately seem somewhat at odds with ColinÕs post in your original thread. Bootlegs apart itÕs clear many people are having problems with R1&R2 orders from Ringos and if heÕs willing to come onto the forums and sort them out then this can only be a good thing surely?

I know we at DVDTalk positively encouragethe participation of etailers as itÕs often the fastest way of sorting out any problems. ItÕs good for the forum, good for the members and good for the etailer. Win-win all around.

I agree with you totally AndySymbian, if they are not allowed to answer here what is the point of a supplier forum at all. The forum's are supposed to be here for it's member's benefit, which just lately seems to getting forgotten (dtsrules post).

p.s no A.I here either.

dtsrules, you make a couple of fair points but I have to take issue with your comment above.

Surely it's swings and roundabouts?

Take as an example the kodak cock up, was that for the benefit of the site, maybe colin can come and tell you exactly how much the forums made out of that, and how much strain and extra cost it put on them.

WTF? I never mentioned reviewers.
They do a good job, but if they didn't want to do it then they wouldn't do it, I couldn't give a monkeys about the reviewers.
FYI, I don't give a flying fig what the reviewers think.Do you really think people visit the forums because of the reviewers, i think i have read one review in all the time i have been a member here.

Nice plug.

I never said they are unimportant, but i'm sure if you saw the server bills and the money made from the forums you would agree with me.

Of course the forums are here for the members benefit, but they do have to be paid for, no money coming in, no forums, simple.

Sorry guys but I don't agree that non-sponsors should be allowed to answer questions on this site. If they read your post they can always email you.

What incentive would there be for companies to sponsor the site and give the forums the vital income which allows us to visit and enjoy this site if non-sponsors received the same perks?

Problems with a supplier can be dealt with via email and away from the site. It's simply an added advantage to the sponsor to have an 'official' thread.

As the forum description states:

Want to discuss a particular retailer - either on-line or off? You can do it here! The comments posted within this forum are the responsibility of the member who posts.

I take that to mean a member can post if they have received good or bad service from a supplier and pass on their experience to other members. Sure there are other threads such as 'Who's the cheapest?' etc. but there has to be some sort of exclusive sponsor package to intice those backers.

Hey guys listen up im not too sure about this information ive got but ive heard that ringo's did send out a lot of dvds to be posted and they have gone missing at the post office or somthing like that. Ive been reading posts thinking what s going on with everyone not getting there dvds and ive just been told that the dvds have gone missing that were sent out. It really does sound like someone has it in for ringo's at the moment. And by the way you probably havn't had an email from ringo's because they reply to their customers individualy, which is why the service is so unique, but can you blame ringo's for not replying to your emails when you think about how many they would have to write, and as you all may already know that ringo's had been flamed a few weeks ago and it took a lot of their time to sort through all the emails. Im sure you dvds will get to you.

who the hell do the administrators think they are telling stu not to answer any questions posed by people useng the forums

The people who run the site and ensure that the terms and conditions are being adhered to?

well im sorry but i think if people post a question for stu tp answer on this forum then i think we all expect it to be answered by stu.

I want to create a thread and ask Lord Lucan if he really did do it and I expect that to be answered by him too.

This forum is controlled by lunatics.

Flubble meep knarp.

Does this mean that is i post a thread relating to say dixons does this mean that dixons has to sponsor you before they can answer a question.

Yes. You email Dixon's head office with the url of the thread, they get in touch with their people, who get in touch with our people, who pay to sponsor the site and then you get your question answered.

If this forum is open to members of the public then stu is welcome to use it as a member of the public.

We've never suggested otherwise.

It doesnt sound like he's doing deals over on your forum hes just answering questions!

We have asked him not to answer questions in threads that concerns Ring0s, as it contravenes the T&C's and he has agreed not to. If you require a direct response, then you're always better off mailing him.

I think the administrators are getting under hands for supporting *********

Eh?

or whatever its called i wouldnt know because id never use the place ill stick with using the best service with ringo's.

We don't have any influence over your preferred supplier nor force you to use any retailer that you're not happy with.

Just remember its the people that come on your site that keep it on the net

Totally agree with you, but if we were to allow non-sponsors to promote their business for free, the paying sponsors would soon withdraw their sponsorship and then the site wouldn't be on the net, period.

so why dont you just let stu answer our questions

Look at the front page of this site for your answer.

THANK YOU!

You're welcome. :)
