Hey guys,
As the title suggests I am keen to get a new phone and really not sure which one to go for.
After reading countless posts, I am still undecided.
I think am leaning towards the iPhone for basic ease of use and fast mobile internet??
Help

Why would the iPhone have a faster mobile internet than the Hero?
i went with the iPhone since i was after exchange integration and i know the iPhone does exchange very well.
Was unsure how well the Hero would handle exchange.

Probably best to go into a shop and ask to have a try of each. Personally I prefer Android because of the openness of the OS and applications. I also considered the running costs, and for a data based tariff, T-Mobile gave me the G1 for £50 and £20 a month for unlimited data and 100min/txt which is fine for me.

I thought the safari browser reacts quicker? could be wrong?

Not sure you can, i certainly haven't seen one anywhere.
I thought the safari browser reacts quicker? could be wrong? Not sure although if it's faster wouldn't of thought it would be due to the browser, more likely to be memory?

The thread on the HTC Hero mentions that a few people have seen the Hero in Orange shops, so probably worth calling around first.

They've got the Hero in my local Voda shop, that's the Ridings centre in Wakefield. I reckon they'll be in all the others.

The Hero has activesync support for Exchange same as the Iphone.
Iphone doesn't support categories so not that great with Exchange.

does all right for me for exchange.
Can see all the folders and subfolders on my exchange account so im more than happy and thats what i was after.
O2's 3G network is meant to be among the poorest of the networks and has been down a few days in the last month. Because of this I'm guessing the browsing is unlikely to be faster on the iPhone.
The Hero is widely available now from Orange and T-mobile both online and in the shops. I have one myself and love it. Saying that I'm sure the iPhone is great too.

This is my main issue with the iPhone. The hardware, software and seamless ease of use has made it my favourite gadget ever. Shame I can't say the same about o2. Don't know if it's the phone or o2 but 3G reception is pitiful, and normal reception is dreadful too. I live in London and on orange and 3 I got 5 bars and full 3G or HSDPA everywhere. In my flat on o2 I get 1 bar or no service, on 3, orange or vodaphona I get 5 bars, all on different phones. Even on 5 bars and 3g the Internet speed is very slow.

I'm still stuck between the two!
I hope the success of Android will mean Apple/O2 will start dropping prices on the iPhone. Not like they budged on Macs though :suspect:

the iphone radio is worse than my nokias, but O2s 3G network is by far the worst in the country. I'm not sure what they are going to do to be honest.. will cost probably a few hundred million and a lot of time to bring it up to spec. Maybe they are planning to buy 3 or Tmo..

i use a g1, and i also have an ipod touch.
generally i think that the ipod has a nicer interface, and does what it does very well.
im impressed with the g1, but suffer from battery life
overall if i was buying a new phone (budget not a problem) i would go for the iphone
