Just wondering what you lot think about the recent Simpsons and Futo box set packaging (R2).
I absoloutely loath the Simpsons one. Mine is falling apart as I speak. My bedroom gets hot and all the glue has dried out that holds the thing together.
On the other hand the Futurama box is Fantastic. A nice amaray case for each disc - perfect.
Futurama is by far the best style of packaging - I love it :)
Simpsons packaging is fine as I don't have the problems most people seem to have with these digipack sets (ie. they fall apart) but I also find that you need to be more careful when handling them...and the great thing with Futurama is if you like you can put the Armarays on your shelf, and leave the box untouched on display elsewhere.

Don't see why people's digipack DVD boxes fall apart. I've had several for well over a year and they're all still in pristine condition. Maybe you just need to handle them with a bit more care. My room gets hot too and no problems here.
Futurama packaging rocks though.
I dont like the simpsons case for the simple reason that the disks are really loose in the case and have a tendancy to fall off the hub. The hubs used to hold the disks in other digipacks liker Buffy S1 are fine and so I think it's just a problem with Fox trying to design a new hub to hold the disks and not testing it properly.

Futurama except for the silly slip cover that it's in...
The Futurama is much better, but as it cost twice as much as my R1 Simpsons I don't mind the Simpsons packaging (probably also because I've had no problems with it falling apart yet).

Both look class on the my shelf and do the job great so I'm not fussed.
 Hooray for boxes and the DVDs inside em!
My bedroom gets hot and all the glue has dried out that holds the thing together.
LOL you live in a Desert? It must be very hot to make them fall apart just with the heat or have you been throwing them about?

I know this is an old thread, but I've only just got my (R2) Futurama S1, and was planning to start my own thread on naff packaging, but a forum search turned up this one.
I suppose it's the plastic outer sleeve I really object to. It's too tight, and is already getting dog-eared through catching on the cardboard sleeve corners, no matter how careful I am. If only they'd thought to put a "Futurama Season 1" identifier on the cardboard sleeve, I could remove the plastic outer and store it somewhere safe. Probably do that anyway, and leave the "Amarays" pointing outwards!
Oh well, for £14.99 (from Play), it's a real bargain. Will I be able to pick up later seasons that cheaply?

I think the best is the R1 "thinline" packs - half width amarays are used with a surrounding box, so the R1 Futurama sets have both benefits: individual boxes for each disc with the compact nature of the Simpsons style digibox.
i dont like the outer sleeve, it looks nice but its a pain and too tight so i leave that off. because there are so many simpsons seasons im glad there in the smaller sets, but you do have to treat them more carefully.
Whilst the Futurama packaging is quite functional and easy to use, the Simpsons packaging look snicer on my shelf mainly becuase it's smaller.
Personally, I'm a big fan of the Buffy DVD packaging, very small and they look very neat next to each other na dgetting the DVD's out is very quick. Alternativily the Babylon 5 packaging is very nice as it is very secure and quick to get the disks out.
Whilst the Simpsons packaging is allright, the way they did the ST:TNG DVD was quite irrtating since to get to disks 1 and 7, you really need somewhere flat to lay them outm rather than trying to do it standing up as I normally do.
Sp the moral of that story is that I like my packaging to take up as little space as possible and ti be easy to get out. I quite like the way the Simpsons ones are done becuase they are smallish, look nice on the shelf and all the dics can be got to easily without openign about 4 cases. Ally Mcbeal is the worst offender though, since having the whole series takes up half a shelf, whilst having about 5 Buffy/Angel type cases takes up 1/5 of the space and look a lot cooler too.

I agree. And they are very compact packages for 6-disc sets.
If only Lexx could be the same! (But I understand R2 Lexx S3 will be issued in a "season" package.)

yes i prefer having seperate amaray cases for sure.. makes access 10 times easier.. but the slip case on Futurama can be a bit fiddly, which i hate.. the best so far is Family Guy S3 in terms of 3 discers... Though Futurama wins on its excellent art design, which was sublime on S3!
but i think with The Simpsons they need to think about space, because they know they have more than 3 times the space the Futurama discs will take (a shame!) and we would need an entire shelf for The Simpsons discs!!
but overall
Winner - Futurama!!

As long as digipacks don't have an insane number of discs (like the X Files or 24 sets) then I don't mind them. But the Futurama packaging is nice and simple, once you get rid of the annoying slip case!
