My muppet of a father went out and rented a Toshiba 2d210eb DVD player without consulting me - he knows didly squat.
I pitied the installation guy who had to explain the ins and outs to him..... and now wants my help - arrgh.
Is this player any good?
does it have a remote hack to make it multiregion..
Is the DD decoder any good?
any responces gratefully (sp?) received
thanks
Jamin
EDIT: changes title
It's an excellent £200 player. It's over a year onl, but What HiFi put it way above the rest in the sub £300 price range in all their reviews.
It's superb picture, and has all the neccessary connecters to connect directly to a Dolby Digital &/or DTS receiver.
It can't be made multi by a hack, but you can buy it chipped for around £180 if you shop around.
It also plays vcd's, svcd, mp3's, all I might add, from cdrw as well as cdr's.
If you're looking to buy one in that price bracket, that's the one to go for.
.....yes I've got one, and I know two other people who've also bought one,and they're both equally pleased with it.....! ;)
Your dad done good.......! ;)

cheers for your reply...
..yeah did some looking around, and played with it while he was out, its very nice.
And I got it to play some region 4 discs i've got which its not meant to (and before you say - they're not dual encoded!)
pulled a switcheroo on the drive stick in a valid disc (i used an australian all regionl pal disc - Ghost in the shell) and then put in the r4 (in this case the Cube) and it played fine. didn't work in the same way for r1 but that 'cos it realises its ntsc and has another look at the disc, and i didn't have any ntsc r0 / all to try it with. can't win everything.
