An amp with DPL 2 decoding will take a standard stereo signal and convert into a Psuedo DD 5.1 track - i.e. the rears will be in stereo instead of mono like on DPL 1. This of course means that TV, VHS (!!) and DVD DD 2.0 tracks can be improved tremendously.

Word of warning though - some amps with DPL 2 are reported to have problems with it so check out any amp you are planning to buy with it out first

Pro Logic 2 can be tremendous on some material. There have been times when pro logic has sounded as good, if not better than some 5.1 mixes with it on my amp.

Especially good on the X files...

Jon Smith - I'm thinking of getting a new amp and obviously want as many bells/whistles as possible. What amp have you got?

I'm about to purchase a Denon 3802 that has amongst it's many array of features tucked up it's sleeve, Dolby Pro-Logic II. :D

Worth checking out and available from some retailers for the giveaway price of £649.99...BARGAIN!
