Anyone used them?

They've got Cube for 9.99 which seems like the best price I can find. Which makes me wary, being the old cynic that I am.

play.com = play247.com

one of the oldest and best (IMHO) online DVD retailers.
I've used them at least a dozen times without any problems.

I use them for most of my R2 purchases and I rarely have a problem. The reason they are so cheap is that they are based in Jersey so you don't have to pay any VAT, delivery tends to be 3-5 days and the order management section of their website is very good.

The only problem with them is that they insist on sending everything recorded delivery, so you have to be in to sign for it when it comes.

www.splashdvd.com are another site based in Jersey with similar prices, delivery tends to be a few days longer than play but they use normal post rather than recorded which is a big plus for me.

Play is absolutely fine.

I was so dissapointed with the Cube disc I took it back to HMV (claiming I had accidently purchased a duplicate). Picture looked softer than my VHS copy. Box said disc was anamorphic and it isn't.

Trouble is it's the sort of film that is unlikely to get re-issued with a better transfer. Still, at least you've been warned

Cube is out in France in a Sp Ed - anamorphic, extras, subtitles etc.

Play seem to have upgraded their CS - I got recorded options when I phoned earlier this week and a couple of seconds later I was speaking to a real live human who sorted out my problem. This can only be a good thing and for the large part makes them hard to beat as their CS was their one achilles heel.

I agree, it has definitely improved. I have emailed them several times over the last few weeks and each time I have got an automated resposnse saying I will have an answer within 24 hours, and in all cases I have.

Couldn't agree more with the above posts, highly recommended. Just got Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back through the post today only 2 days after it says it was processing.

Play seem to ship the odd R2 through recorded delivery. Of late, for me, it's about 50/50 whether they do it or not.

I can't rate Play.com highly enough, never had any problems.

Only ever ordered from 2 other places. Tried futurenet 6 months ago, dreadful CS, the guy even swore at me
Second was 2 weeks ago at movietime, ordered Iris which was in stock, the next day they took my money and i am STILL waiting for it, e-mailed them 1 week after and was told it would be in the post on Monday (a week ago today) still no sign of it.

Don't think i'll order from anywhere else, i am sticking to Play.

For me, Play.com are 95% reliable, and when things go wrong, they always sort it out. I've had wrong disks sent, been charged for something I haven't ordered and been sent stuff twice, but they are very quick to put their mistakes right.

I'm not keen on the new order history/user account set-up, as you can't easily see release dates for the disks on order like you used to.

I don't use them as much anymore, as they take much longer to deliver than others like Futureent.com. But I think they are the best for R2 DVD.

Play were one of the first E-Tailors i ever trusted with my CC details.

Since then i have used several other online stores, many of which i use no longer. Play still have the majority of my DVD Buying Business, say no more

I think Play are terrific, no complaints from me.

Must have bought 30 plus DVDs from then by now, over the past 18 months or so.

What is the point of the new order history layout? It doesn't list the release date any more so it's very difficult to keep track of pre-orders, and it's now split over several pages so you can't scroll up and down to see all your orders. What's it meant to have improved?

I have written to them about the new pre-order layout losing the dates, that was over a week ago, they don't seem to have taken a blind bit of notice.

I emailed them about the same thing and got the standard "thanks for your comments, we have passed your suggestions to the relevant department" reply. I've cancelled all my pre-orders that are more than about 1 week away now. Can anyone see what it is meant to have improved? It was nicely laid out, clear and compact before, now they've removed the most important information, put it all in a messy table and spread it over numerous pages, if you want to to search your pre-orders for a title you have to do it page by page instead of being able to do it all at once.
