Ok then, I was heartily happy when i got the chance to rig up my DVD player at a friends house...however I seem to have hit on a small problem.

Having the player connected directly to the TV (Made by Beko), there appear to be a few lines at the top of the screen. And to a person that appreciates quality of viewing it can cheese a person off a tad!

Also when turning up the volume, the volume bar is actually off at the bottom of the screen (The only way we know it is working is because the actual volume goes up.)

Has anyone ever come across this? I reckon its a hardware issue as i have tried this on more than one disc.

*Any* help is appreciated.
George :)

I use the same Dvd player played through a 28inch widescreen / flatscreen JVC (cant remember the model number off hand) and I have to say that everything plays without any problems, and am pretty well chuffed with how things are setup.:)

Therefore if it is a hardware issue I'd put it down to the Beko rather than the player.

I use a Beko 28" Widescreen TV with the LG3000e DVD player (connect via RGB scart) and have not noticed any problems with it. I know that does'nt help you much, sorry.

I think i have found out what it is, its when i play R1 discs. Eventhough i tell it to output in PAL, the lines still appear at the top of the screen, but when i play R2 discs (Buffy S123, Idle Hands etc) it plays fine... :(

Perhaps it's a result of converting your Region 1 DVD's picture from NTSC to PAL. Can your TV not handle an NTSC picture? Most recent TV's can (my beko can) and i just leave my DVD player on AUTO, which selects PAL or NTSC automatically. Unless you definately know your TV can't, i would give it a try.

HTH. :)
