Not sure if this is normal, but when watching movies if someone speaks to the left or right and the actual dialogue comes from the front left or right speaker, the dialogue has an echo to it which makes the voice seem as if it is coming from another room, when, on-screen they are actually in the same room!

Noticed it on the last few movies i watched including Straight Story last night.

Can anyone advise?

My digitheatre has done this a few times now...I just powered off a couple of times (at the mains) which seemed to sort it. It is annoying tho...

You haven't accidentally switched any DSP surround effects on like the crappy Hall, Concert modes etc?

I wondered that, but i can't have as the sound was OK through the centre speaker (not sure about the rears though as they only have ambient effects which would probably be unnoticable if they echoed anyway).

Is any sound coming from the rears? (i.e. is it the rears repeating the fronts?) Could be the delays on the rears? I know my amp has settings for them, presume most do.

No, it's not the rears repeating the fronts, it is definately just from front left/right.

Saying that though, it is very annoying when music comes from the rears and spoils the sound of the soundtrack.
