I've not seen it but consider Ben Stiller movies to be a bit naff on first viewing but get better after repeated views. eg, Mystery Men and Meet the Parents.

It doesn't seem that bad from the trailers.

hmm - I've heard that this is a bit better than it looks, although I've started to realise that I should avoid anything attached to Ben Stiller. I saw Meet The Parents at the cinema and was highly disappointed, then gave it a second chance at home, and it was promptly burnt (ok, that's a lie). I also recently re-watched There's Something About Mary and that was the biggest waste of two hours I've ever spent! Atrocious film...

That naturally makes me want to avoid Zoolander, but, then again, I should take it on it's merits and give it a go - but I don't think I'll be busting a gut to see it.....

Try Zero Effect for a great underlooked Ben Stiller film.

I thought it was okay - worth watching, but probably not buying.

It was miles better that 'Meet the Parents' IMO...

Thought it was about as funny as root canal work. Awful, awful film. Nobody laughed at the press showing I went to - nightmare!

Hi,

After seeing the first 5 minutes and hearing Stiller's accent, I was thinking oh my god, what have I let myself in for. However, starting at the hilarious petrol station scene (did no-one like this bit?) it actually gets quite funny. Some jokes miss the mark, but I quite liked it overall. I don't think I would buy it as a 'keeper' though, but worth watching at least once.

Cheers,
Jason.

Jesus?? where are all the Stiller fans??? come on!

me and my sister are big Stiller fans, so this view is coming from someone who really likes Something About Mary, Meet The Parents etc... actually if anything when he plays serious i'm not as in tune.. but i think he's great when doing any tongue-in-cheek role no matter how brief!

anyways we both loved it... we were the only ones at the cinema except for some couple a few rows in front... and they only laughed once.. while we were laughing throughout! I love the wacky dream moments!! I left thinking this was definatley a keeper, and am definately getting the disc... PS - i'm also a huge Owen Wilson fan, actually i like the whole cast, notably Stiller's Dad, Jerry...

i can see why some people absolutely hate it... as it doesn't really try to appeal to much to the masses, it has a unique type of comedy.. you're either with it ot not. To quote Jonothan Ross... it's a 'Triumph'!!!!

i'd get it if you liked Stiller's previous films... the style of comedy is more like Mystery Men, in that it's very silly and wacky, if you like comedies like this.. then you'll most likely love it...

I'm a big fan of Ben Stiller (Infact I think the Cable Guy is heavily unrated). I wasn't that keen on There's Something About Mary but then again I'm not keen on the Farrelly Brothers.

Unfortunatly I didn't get to see Zoolander at the cinemas so I have it on preorder, but if pas Ben Stiller movies are anything to go by and Will Farrell's performance is as good as that from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back I'll be a happy happy man :D

The trailer actually convinced me to see this movie but as a Ben Stiller fan it really is a huge dissapointment.

Loved it.

Enjoyed Meet the parents and Something about Mary too.
If you don't like those films, then there's a good chance this won't be your cup of really, really good looking tea ....

I loved it at the cinema... I was killing myself pretty much all the way through. Ben Stiller's movies usually go down well with me - Mystery Men is underrated IMHO - but Zoolander is a different beast to that, or the more sentimental Meet the Parents. It is nothing more than a series of very funny, very stupid jokes, and it works like a charm. Result, Stiller. :D

I thought it was hilarious, probably the funniest movie of last year. Having said that, at the showing me and a friend attended, we were the only people laughing. Most of the rest of the audience, largely under 18, didn't appear to have a clue what was funny about it. One of them said while leaving "Yeah, like Ben Stiller could be a supermodel" having obviously missed the point of the film completely.
