Kinda weird this, wondered if anyone else has noticed it.
I've got True Lies on R4 to play on a non-modded sony 735.

I've noticed the player makes a significant humming sound when playing the disc. Almost like a vibration. It occasionally stops on some chapters then comes back in again, it doesn't seem to go with the layer change.

All R2 discs sound silent when spinning, but this R4 sounds like its grinding in the tray:confused: .

Any ideas, does it sound like it could cause any damage?.
Cheers..

Freaky....

I have exactly the same player and a similar problem. I notice it on R2.

One specifically is (TAXI 2) --- it sounds like its catching on something, but as the chapters get higher the noise dissapears.

Think Im gunna take it in for a checkup now. I also notice LIP SYNC occasionally now on some newer films.

Least I know I'm not going crazy now. I thought it might be a dodgy disc. Have a look at your Taxi disc.

I've noticed the edge of the R4 disc is slightly different to all my other discs, I thought it might be this catching. The other discs are slightly beveled but the R4 is flat. Its very fine, just about noticable. Have a ganders anyhow.

Cheers

Yeah Ive looked into this before.

I had a R2 Jaws that did the noise and the edges on that were different. It was not smooth at all. And the TAXI 2 looks a very thick disc.

The problem is that my M8 has the same player and its fine on his. :(

Many R4 discs have dual-encoding i.e. R2 and R4.

I've noticed this humming/grinding noise on some R4 discs too but it's only noticeable when a disc is loading.
