My "soon to be dead son" has scratched my Xbox 360 ghost buster game, which I got for fathers day and had yet to play....
Its got scratches on the outer edge of the disc, any way i can try and fix it myself or is it worth a trip to gamestation to get it fixed ?

I just bought a copy of Gears of War off ebay, despite the description quoting "no scratches" that wasn't quite true and I kept getting the dirty discs message.
I'd recommend using Brasso or similar to get rid of any scratches. I got Gears of War working fine again and used the same trick on several DVD's. If you do this you will wind up with loads of fine little scratch marks, but my 360 plays the discs fine.

for the small cost involved I'd take it to gamestation.
My Rock Band 2 disc got scratched last week and wouldn't play.
I took it to Gamestation and and the machine there did the job...£1.99 well spent
what do the discs come out like when you take them to Gamestation, I've had a few discs obviously resurfaced by private sellers and they've had this odd oval pattern on the disc where its been polished. Just wondering as I have a few second hand titles I may take in and get cleaned up.

I just used a bit of toothpaste and cloth to get my old disc working.

My disc looks brand new again!

Took it to Granger games and cost £1.50 to do it.
Seeing as he will no doubt be using his pocket money over the next few weeks to replace the game he damaged, I dont see any problem.
My disc looks brand new again!
cheers, I keep my own stuff mint but buy some older stuff second hand so you never know what your getting - thanks for the info.

Bought myself a Disc Doctor thingy years ago and it's one of the best investments I ever made.
Was about £25 but I've fixed numerous discs over the years.
I'm hugely careful with my discs from new but it's inevitable that you'll pick up the odd 2nd hand one that's scratched to bits.
