MOTD will not be in HD this coming season as far as I know and BBC HD is no longer a trial channel.

They already said they want to do Formula 1 in HD too, but the issue is that the feeds they get are not HD and the FIA who distribute the rights to the broadcast do not offer the HD broadcasts.

The golf I had been hoping would be in HD, wimbledon was as BBC are the broadcasters for that anyway I think.

The Open will be in HD from 2010, or so I read.

I'm not sure all of the Premier League games are even recorded in HD. Until then, they can't really have MOTD in HD. The late Saturday game will be recorded in HD for sure next season but it might look a bit daft only having one of that matches in HD.

I believe that the issue with MOTD isn't the lack of HD coverage of matches (most, if not all are possibly recorded in HD now).

But it's the lack of sufficient HD editing facilities for the fast turnaround times they have in getting the coverage ready on a Saturday night. It won't be until BBC Sport moves to the new base in Salford in 2011 (I think) that we'll get MOTD in HD by the looks of it.

Apparently the FIA are testing HD on the WRC this season.

I don't think that the FIA have anything to do with the coverage of F1 - FOM / CCV have the rights to F1 broadcasting for the long term - it's their cameras etc that we get the feed from (much as I hate Max, he's not responsible directly for that one)

F1 would be cool in HD, couldn't care less about poofball but I'm bemused by BBC's attitude to Rugby 6N "brit" home matches = HD autumn internationals = SD ????????

The open at Turnberry in HD would have been fabulous eye candy - the views were just gob smacking

I couldnt find any threads on these
but anyone know what the situation is? can we expect to see MOTD on HD this coming season and formula 1 nx season HD.
And i noticed the Golf this weekend isnt in HD either.
Is the BBC limited on HD programming because the channel is only a trial channel?

Im sure I read the BBC were saying any possible cuts to the license fee would impact their HD plans, effectively holding it to ransom

No chance, and if the only reason for carrying on is because its just been like that all the time then that is really stupid.

Very true.. you could say the same about alcohol and tobacco.. both would be up there with meow meow for banning if found today

They are supposedly testing filming in HD this season but not making it available to any TV networks so hopefully it should be up and running for next season.
