So the album is done (no title yet) and the first single is out next month.

Been looking forward to this for a while, apparently it's going to be darker and heavier than their other stuff. Which is good as Liberation Transmission was a kind of wet blanket album but I still really liked it.

Anyone else looking forward to it?

I'm looking forward to them not trying to sound as if they're from LA ;)

Agreed. I'm looking forward to it also, but I won't lie, I'm quite worried as to what it will sound like. I really don't see them going back to the likes of TFSOP given where they are nowadays.

I saw them in Norwich last year. The singer spent most of the time preening his hair then for an encore decided to stage dive but then threw a girlie strop when he got back onstage as someone had stolen his shoe

Doubt they'll play Norwich again...Apparantly we didnt show any respect. Aw bless

Lostprophets, the missing link between Queens of the Stone Age and Duran Duran according to their adverts years ago

I saw them before they got picked up by a big label, when they were really, really good live, and I saw them again once they'd brought out their second album. By that point, they'd become emo bilge, and come across as a bunch of useless pretty boys on stage.

As far as I'm concerned, they ******* suck now and were a one-album wonder.

I can't wait for the album. Heard some preview stuff ages ago when they performed an intimate show at the Scala in 2007 and that was pretty much bringing back memories of TFSOP era. I think they're brilliant live as well and have never seen Ian Watkins be anything but a superb front man, in terms of getting the crowd going and interaction

I think I'm the only one who cares but the world exclusive 1st play of the new single is on Zane Lowe's show on Radio 1 tomorrow night

well, the new single 'It's Not The End Of The World But I Can See It From Here' is OK but it sounds too much like the last album for my liking. Could be a grower though.

Heard this way back in 2007 when they played an intimate show at Scala and they've definitely improved it since then. I think it's a cracker of a song but then again I did love their last album for my sins!

I'm looking forward to them moving to Bridgend and doing the world a favour.

I've played it once and it's not bad at all, it starts off really well with If It Wasn't For Hate We'd Be Dead By Now & Dstryr/ Dstryr. I Can't see it winning over many new fans but I can understand the comments regarding it being more like TFSOP than previous albums.

I've been listening to it constantly over the past couple of days to review it for The Music Fix and I'm loving it. Next Stop Atro City is superb and Streets Of Nowhere is unbelievably catchy. It definitely has old school LP songs but I don't feel they've completely ignored the last album style either, especially on For He's A Jolly Good Felon and Dirty Little Heart. Cracking stuff.

Gave it an listen earlier while getting on with other things but found it to a little dull. Every track seemed to meld into each other and sound the same to me.

I'll give it a proper go tomorrow.

There is no actual break between the first four songs, they're all linked with a bridge between the songs as is the case on some of the later tracks which might not help the situation!

Yeah I know. What I meant was, nearly all of the songs sounded pretty much the same so I thought I was listening to 1 60-odd minute long track.

So far, it's the weakest of the 4 albums.

Not all that impressed either, I was kinda looking forward to this as it was meant to be darker and harder but it's downright poppy in places. Dirty Little Heart is :gag:, hard to believe it's from the same lads that brought us Shinobi Vs. Dragon Ninja.

I can safely say you won't agree with my review tomorrow then! I actually think it's their best album. Not saying it has their best ever tracks on it but, as an album as a whole, it's a lot more accomplished and assured than any of their other efforts in my opinion.

I think a good barometer of how much you'd enjoy the album is what you think of 'It's Not The End Of The World...' Everyone I've spoke to who enjoyed that track, including me and I still think it's one of the best things they have done, love the album. And the opposite seems true!

Not impressed with the new album as well, all the tracks sound samey and nothing really stands out. Its like a weaker clone of old tracks.

I am hoping they play some old tracks on the tour next month

Finally gave this a couple of decent listens over the last week and my initial thoughts haven't changed, it's definitely the worst album they've done. It starts of pretty well, the drum beat to If It Wasn't For Hate... is awesome and Dstryr Dstryr is pretty much the best track of the lot.

Then the quality begins to dip a bit until we get to the awful track 9, Streets of Nowhere :gag: It sounds like Ian Watkins is singing in a completely random tune over a backing track of Jet's Are You Gonna Be My Girl?.

The rest of the tracks are totally pointless, instantly forgettable and sound exactly the same, utter pop nonsense.

Very disappointing after the long wait and promise. I really wish they'd go back to the rawness of ..Fake Sound.. or the brilliance that is Start Something :(

6/10 - must try harder

EDIT: I've just noticed there's 2 extra tracks on my 'preview' copy compared to my UK retail. AC Ricochet isn't on the UK version which is a pity as it's a great track.

saw Lostprophets last night at the Corn Exchange in Cambridge, fantastic concert, the songs are even better live. Shame I could only get balcony tickets back in November (the first support were poor but Kids in glass houses were quite good)

My review of their Brixton date here:

http://www.themusicfix.co.uk/content/gig-review/9035/lostprophets.html

Very entertaining night but the first half of the set contained too much of their new stuff. As much as I love it, I don't go to a gig to have them reeled off in succession without much imagination. The second half was superb though, especially We Are Godzilla.
