Taken from DVD File:

Here's a bit of a surprise. Perhaps due to its mediocre box office and lack of Oscar nominations, Columbia has announced the pithy specs for Michael Mann's Ali, hitting DVD on 4/30. The disc boasts no extras aside from the theatrical trailer, and is presented in 2.35;1 anamorphic widescreen with English and French Dolby 5.1 tracks and English, French and Spanish subtitles. Retail is $27.95

How they can charge $27.95 for a barebones is a joke!

I think this is Columbia throwing its toys out of the pram because nobody cares about the Ali movie which they thought was going to be the best thing ever

I think the reason is because Michael Mann really isn't too keen on extras, I think he has done a commentary on Thief but I'm not sure, Mr Brooke a fan I think so he could probably say more.

if we've learnt anything.. it's that moderate box office takings of a film mean increased extra features on DVD.. if anything a really big hit can get away with a barebones disc.. i know i'd buy a barebones disc of a film like LOTR... but the public need an extra nudge when it comes to buying a DVD of a film that supposedly has a lot going for it but didn't entice them enough to leave their homes.

You'd at least have thought they'd put on some EPK crap at least!! Film 2002 showed some good behind the scenes footage, which made me to think they've obviously got some DVD team working there... obviously not... unless it's a case of R2 coming out later and reaping the benefits??
