Just had my renewal for pet insurance through from Tesco (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=79). It had gone up by £4 a month - which may not seem a lot but it equals a 30% increase. I rang to query and was expecting the increase to be due to a claim I made during the year.

Seems not, they're claiming an rise in general vet fees over the year has led to the increase. However - if I cancelled my policy and then re-insured via their website I could get the 20% online discount...which bought it back to roughly where it was before!

Obviously this was just Tesco, but it might apply to others so it's worth checking when your renewal comes through.

Great opportunity for me to recommend Healthy Pets (http://www.healthy-pets.co.uk/).

We have our dogs (3 and 13) insured with them and they pay out regularly for the eldest with no question. She has two conditions which affect her, ringworm and artiritis for which they offer ongoing treatment for the life of the policy (upto the limit which for us is £5k. They are currently funding 12 sessions of hydrotherapy at £25 a pop with no excess as it's ongoing treatment.

Think we pay about £30/year which considering Suzies age is very good value for money especially as the claims process is so easy.

Good that a pet insurance company will fund hydrotherapy

I'd also recomend Tesco (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=79) Pet Insurance, despite the renewal hicup - excellent value for money. I pay £9.60 a month for both cats with an upper claim limit of £3000/year and a £50 excess. Quick payment too for claims.

creepy, just had similar problem with Tesco... big increases are our 3 cats getting older.

Sainsburys seem to be a lot cheaper though.

We went with Halifax for our 2 cats/kittens. They do insure up to £9000 a year and a few extra benifits. It only went up 50p i think this year.

I change all other insurances every year but will try and keep this as one and it might be hard to claim or they could be funny if they get ill or they do get ill then i wont be able to insure them elsewhere.
