Am just about to order Taxi 2 from one of the R3 sites (coolashop or dddhouse I think) and wondered whether I should pick anything else up whilst I'm there ;). I have Battle Royale already but that is my only other R3 currently.

I am after 'definitive' versions rather than cheap ones that will be superceded by yet to be released on R1/2 e.g the Others. I understand that several benefit from exlcusive DTS tracks but to be honest i would prefer an edition with an anamorphic picture over this.

Do they have to be R3 encoded? Or do you just want general HK R0 recomendations.

Shaolin Soccer is a good fun movie with special effects that better the Matrix.

m8, get FULLTIME KILLER starring Andy Lau - a GREAT film IMHO.
basically about 2 hitmen after one another so there can be only one great hitman.
er........AUDITION is good if you haven't got it (a cool horror film), its cheaper on R3 than R2 Tartan release.

Also, City Of Lost Souls - another fantastic film but the only trouble is that the R3 disc is a flipper.

Memento Mori is a good film too, it has lesbians in it - get this now lol.....i think it is what the film Memento is based on, although i have not seen Memento R2 yet so can't really comment.

God you lot are faster than Alan Wells :D

No I'm not after R3s solely so R0 is fine and the R0 Shiri is one of my favourites:D. I have a load of HKL already and watched 2000AD last night which I really enjoyed.

You have already mentioned some that I had considered but that had slipped my mind incl Shaolin Soccer and Audition but is R3/0 the best version? Audiiton really appeals but I had heard an anamorphic version was due?

What are the R3 distributors like with customs. Is there one you would chose above another for multiple orders or is it not worth it?

Another Shaolin Soccer recommendation here. Truly original (not to mention barking mad in places!) and the effects are very, very good.

I recently traded my region 2 copy of Audition. The quality of the dvd is great but the film itself is a bit of a strange one. I'm glad I got the chance to see it but for me it was not a keeper.

Just out of interest do the R3 "Taxi" and "Taxi 2" have anything on the discs other than the films?

Also Jimi_Hendrix2001 - just so you know!
"Memento Mori" has nothing to do with "Memento"!
The original 'memento mori' story that "Memento" was based on was written by the director's brother. The title is the only connection.

Taxi 2 (which I borrowed and watched last week) just has a (subtitled) trailer, but it is anamorphic with DTS sound :D

The Korean R0 versions of Taxi 1&2 have the extras plus the only anamorphic 5.1 version of Taxi but there's a rumour it may be cut! I have ordered it from yeon dvd.

Shaolin Soccer it is then plus probably Audition although what is the quality like? Is it anamorphic and is there a superior version on the way?

Shaolin Soccer is anamorphic, and generally the picture quality is very good, tho not flawless. I doubt there's a better version coming anytime soon

The r3 (actually r0) disc has a great DTS soundtrack and a Matrix "Follow The White Rabbit" feature which allows you to watch extra scenes, etc

I ordered 3 films from DDDHouse (Shaolin Soccer, The Others & Battle Royale) and got stung by Customs, despite the package being marked down and no invoice included -- looks like they're wise to them :(

The legend of Zu is worth a watch if only for the pretty visuals. I hated it when I first saw it but it is growing on me because there is a love story trying to get out.

The bride with white hair is excellent and is another love story that should only be about 3 pounds.

I would suggest that next time you order in multiples of 2 as this is usually under £18 after conversion. I know that ddd shipping is cheaper the more you buy but for me the risk isn't worth it.

Don't worry -- I've learned my lesson now! :p

in some cases, you lot could be better off shopping at http://global.yesasia.com . Guarenteed, no customs regardless of size order (and the catalogue of products blows dddhouse away on most accounts) because they reship in the UK, some prices are dearer, but the p+p is cheaper.

Thanks for the reccomendations folks. I was looking for a reliable supplier for Yamakasi - the Luc Besson film with English subs!

I thought I would give yesasia a go, actually a touch more expensive than Coola on the 2 discs I went for (I thought I'd give Shaolin Soccer a go) - roughly 5 US Dollars difference - BUT that avoiding customs thing is a great temptation.
