reqiuem linked to dark city?

Something I noticed when I watched Dark City and Requiem for a dream, both excellent films, was that in Dark City there is a scene of Jennifer Connolly(sic?) stood on the end of a pier at shellbeach.

In Requiem there is an almost identical shot of the same actress, again stood on the edge of a pier at, I think, Coney island.

The shots are so similar I thought there might be some sort of link.

Just wondered if there was anything in this. Maybe it's a simple homage?

darren aronofsky wasn't actually awre of Dark City when he shot that for requiem

Im sure he says it somewhere on the Requiem disc - someone pointed out to him that its identical and he does swear he had never seen Dark City - he said it was from his teenage years where he went to meet a girl at that pier and thats exactly what the scene looked like.

Just a coincidence i guess.
