i have a dansai myself but a friend wants one , he can't seem to get hold of one at tescos but i heard that a player in makro and a player called a decca are exactly the same, can anyone confirm this?
Also my dansai has quite a blocky picture on vcds/svcds are all other users mahines the same?

bought a decca 2110 from powerhouse, which is a dansai clone,a couple of weeks ago.used the hack and had no problems at all.paid £109.99

No blockiness when playing VCDs on my Dansai...
Just the lower resolution that comes from the VCD format. Poor encoding can show as a blockyness on VCDs but this is the format, not a fault of the player.
The Dansai is supposed to be comparitively good with VCDs compared to other players that can play VCD.

The playback seems better on my Dansai than on my PC..

Excuse my ignorance, but does this player do DTS or MP3? I need a cheap replacement for an old 709, but would prefer one that does MP3's too.

The Dansai (and clones) do both DTS (through optical or coax digital output socket) and MP3

Its pretty good with MP3, showing files onscreen in a very logical manner.For example if you burned your MP3 in album_name/track_name.mp3 format you would get a list of albums onscreen.If you selected an album it then lists the tracks on it.It then gives you repeat and random features for the playback of the tracks in the album folder.

It also does VCD,SVCD and easily hacked for multiregion and macrovision disabled.
It even plays DVDs :D

ive a sammy 709,and just replaced it with a decca 2110(dansai clone, same hack).the sammy was good in its day,but with vcd's & svcd's being easier to obtain,the sammy just cannot cut it anymore.its nice to put a disc in and not worry what make it was.having said that,i hope it gives me as good service over the next few years.

hi , i am after a dansai but there are non available in the tesco round my way , i know this sounds like a stupid question but do the clones play everything the dansai can , i mp3 , mini dvd , svcd vcd and the like.

i don't know about mini dvd as i haven't got any.but mp3,vcd,svcd,dvd have been fine

Sorry to intrude on your thread eric, but have a question for kawasaki regarding the Decca Player...

Can you play CD-R's and CD-RW's ?
