Can anyone recommend a decent patio supplier in Essex please? Preferably one you have used because after seeing Builders From Hell, there are some right cowboys out there!

Get the Thompsons out, find a few suppliers and go and see some examples of their work.

Lay it yourself and spend the extra on better slabs. Unless there is something unusual would only take a couple of weekends if that.

I was considering doing that. It's just that everything that has been done to our house by previous owners was bodged! I have taken up a couple of slabs and it looks like it is crazy paving under there which would need a pneumatic drill to get it up!

Thanks but their examples could be the showcases. For all I know, they could have bodged up other jobs, no?

If the crazy paving is level and sound then you are sorted. Take up the crap slabs, dust over with some sharp sand and lay the new slabs.
