View Full Version : worst movies - ever!!!! volume 234
hi,
worst movie(s) ever
my opinion has to be 'Hitmans Run' starring Eric Roberts.
the worst piece of crap i have ever seen, truly appalling, appalingly acted, shot, and editing that leaves some of the worst continuity errors i have ever seen.

I watched Brother the other day and I thought it was laughable. It was the worst thing i have ever seen! I can't understand it as it was critically acclaimed...I just thought it was rubbish!
I feel the need to mention Meet the Parents again. Possibly the least funny 'comedy' ever made.

I had the added bonus of watching this "comedy" on dvd - halfway through we got a call to say my wifes grandad had died.
It really added thet chuckle factor to the second half
I thought "Meet The Parents" was very funny personally.
As for bad films, there's a clear distinction between different types.
(a) Conventionally "Bad" films which are often brilliant and much better than most good films - "Intolerance", "Exorcist II The Heretic", "Heaven's Gate" and so on - usually made by incredibly talented directors without any common sense.
(b) Bad films which are so innocently appalling that they are gloriously funny - "American Ninja" being my current favourite having just watched the DVD.
(c) Bewilderingly poor films which have undeserved good reputations - "Dances With Wolves", "Braveheart", "Kramer Vs Kramer", "Gandhi", "Forrest Gump" etc etc ad nauseum - and which have the sole virtue of technical competence.
(d) Bad films which are so universally incompetent that they are unwatchable - "Hard Men" for example, which I defy anyone to find merit in.
NOTHING is worse the Urban Legends 2!! I earned my Seniour status on this board trying to get rid of it :D or Black Sheep Affair the guy realises its his old girlfriend by the sound of her high heels! LMAO :D
as for Meet the Parents, that film was hilarious!!

Yes I think too many times in these threads any old movie is trotted out and presented as the worst movie ever, even though most of us have only seen a small % of movies so..I will name a few movies I have seen that I feel are the worst for:
Triteness: Mickey and Maude
Manipulation: Four Weddings and a Funeral
Messing with head: Eraserhead
Pretentiousness: Zardoz
Sequels: Highlander 2/Batman and Robin
being crap: Manos the Hands of Fate
TV movie: Badlands
Last year: Rocky and Bullwinkle
Perhaps Mystery Science Theatre 3000 is the best way to watch the crap one above?

Surely Manos is the best movie for being crap?
The film that disappointed me most in the past few months is Valentine. I had no expectations for that film and it still managed to be worse than I thought it could ever be.
Two nominations:
Revenge with Kevin Costner - abysmal, boring and I left the cinema.
The original Flintstones movie - I went thinking it can't really be as bad as the critics made out. It was. I disappeared from the girl I was with for a half hour fag break. Luckily it wasn't somebody I was trying to shag but she still got the hump with me.

I agree Meet the Parents is the unfunniest comedy ever.
but my worst film is probably Space Truckers.

Two other stinkers, more dull than anything else, are "Thin Red Line" and "Heat".
I can't imagine how anyone with even the merest smidgen of an aesthetic sense could find either of those films dull - the first time I saw Heat I was so totally enthralled by the visuals and soundtrack that I didn't even register what it was about and had to see it again the next day!
And The Thin Red Line is the film that made me think seriously about buying a DVD player - I remember watching it in the Odeon Leicester Square thinking "there is no way that VHS is going to do justice to this", and within a couple of months I had my first player, and have never looked back.

I've seen 'Freddie got fingered'.
I'm going to send my therapy bills to Tom Green.
hahah, yea Freddy Got Fingered sucked, after watching it I was too ashmed to call myself a Tom Green fan :(
Also I gotto say that Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was the most over-rated movie I ever saw, I know alot of people will disagree with me but it was b-o-r-i-n-g, it was all talk, and when it did come to action, all they did was fly and clash hands, know one got freakin hurt!!!! - I should have realised this when it came packaged with a "12" certificate.
Cant believe no-one has mentioned Wicky-Wicky-Wicky Wild Wild West yet:rolleyes:

Pearl Harbour

Come to mind as recent celluloid travesty I was stupid enough to go and see at the cinema

From the sci-fi section...
Dungeons and Dragons - "I was going to go to film school but thought i'd learn more by making a movie." Not with $35 million of someone elses money you don't, Mr Solomon...
Judge Dredd - "It's Star Wars meets Ben Hur." Danny Cannon is truly delusional...
Battlefield Earth - "One day it will be seen in the same light as Blade Runner." Roger Christian believes his own press...
Highlander 2 - "It's a sequel that is genuinely better than the original. Probably the finest film i have made." Russell Mulcahy shouldn't have walked off the set of Rambo 3...
Soldier - "It is the kind of movie that Ridley Scott would be proud to call his own." Paul Anderson wasn't told that Mr Scott tuned the movie down...
Armageddon- The most hideous waste of money, reources and opportunity in movie history
OK - here is my three:
Pearl Harbor - A Hollywood film that had far too big a budget, has far too much badly done romance, poor action scenes. Would have done better if the running time was cut by half.
Alien Resurrection - As an 'Alien' film it was downright awful, and as a normal action film it was awful as well. Horrible action scenes, bad acting - this film should never really have been made. I enjoyed Alien³, and think it would have been a fitting end to the series - but oh, no, Hollywood has to try and make more cash from it!
An Alan Smithee Film: Burn, Hollywood, Burn! - I'm sorry - but it took a lot of patience to see this horrible, horrible film all the way to the end. A very, very bad film, and the humour is so, so bad. I would rather be forced to watch Pearl Harbor and Alien Resurrection on repeat for an entire week than have to watch this again.
My selection anyway.
Scary Movie 2 was utter crap. Bloody well paid £16 for it too

I'd have to disagree with that.
I also think The Thin Red Line is one of the most boring film films i have ever seen. I didn't care about a single character in the film and the voice over really started to grate after an hour or so. Terence Malick seemed to be concentrating more on how the film looked (which admittedly looks gorgeous) than the actual story or characters.
I even tried watching it again, with the subtitles on as someone in these forums suggested to try and understand the film better, but i couldn't stay awake long enough to read them :D
However, how could someone say Heat was dull!!!

I've even laughed at the Tom Green show
But Freedie Got Fingerd IS the worst film by a major studio in recent years.

Yeah, but did you really like it or just find some bits amusing? There is a difference in you have to be really amused by his show to have any chance of liking FGF
I'm having a hard time recovering from seeing "Can Heironymous Mirkin ever get over Mercy Humppe and find True Love" which I suffered through last month. Too bad it's not out on anything--I could use it to drive out my flatmate.

My worst film ever...
Lipstick
Man rapes woman - gets let off - rapes woman's sister - first woman exacts revenge.
Poorly made, exploitative, misogynistic, Margaux and Mariel Hemingway - what a delightful combination.
Watched it a million years ago and it still bugs me.
Fortunately, it's never been released on DVD and hopefully never will.
Testimony to its awfulness, is given by this comment from The IMDb ...
Perhaps the Worst Film Ever Created by English-Speaking Persons - If you haven't seen this, it's terrible. It is pure trash. I saw this about 17 years ago, and I'm still screwed up from it.
Sorry, but I'm another CTHD hater. I tried to accept the flying off rooftops stuff but I couldn't, nicely choreographed but boring.
Thanks for reminding me about wild wild west people  that was a BAD movie.
After years and years of curiosity I finally saw Transformers the movie. Won't be watching that again.
Fast and The Furious was pretty poor as well. Max Power : The Movie was more like it ;)
And finally I hate horror films generally but was dragged along to see scream 2, hadn't seen the first so I didn't get any of the in-jokes, borrowed scream 1 afterwards, still hated it and agaist my wishes I was dragged along to scream 3. I pratically ran out of the cinema as soon as the film ended. (I never walk out of a showing, what ya going to do while you wait for your friends?!?)
All this brings my most hated movie to mind, East is East. I can't stand that! The girls in the group of us that went to see it were ******* themselves, I actually tried to go to sleep, but unfortunately couldnt get comfortable :(
Thankyou Arch Stanton for backing me up on sayin Freddy Got Fingered sucked, its the truth! and Jabbit for agreeing when saying CTHD was boring. :)

Hmm,
Poor Films, are we overlooking the clasics such as;
Plan L9(?) from outerspace
Attack of the killer Tomatoes
Wild women of wongo(sp)
And Othes. from the 80's;
The Wraith
Who's that girl, starring Maddona
More recently;
Meet the pairents
Me, myself and Irene
Straingly I've only walked out the cinema on one of these films.
Only film I ever walked out of was A Zed and Two Noughts - unspeakable pretentious cack.
I nearly walked out of Vanilla Sky because it was so annoying - or did I dream that ?
The first 45 minutes or so of Eyes Wide Shut was comically bad althoughthe rest of the film was slightly better.
well i've said it beofre and i'll say it again, Aliens, I hate it. Also the two recent Mummy films as well as Armageddon. shudder.

Neither of the Mummy films are a patch on the unmitigated, awful, soul-destroying, depressing badness of "Bram Stokers Legend of the Mummy" though. I've not forced myself to endure the sequel, but sometimes I dream of the horrors it must inevitably contain.
Wasn't that released on some budget DVD label in a P&S transfer and was bare-bones?

i just wenr to see Shallow Hal and it was pretty crappy. but the classic Batman & Robin is a clear winner here:)
Whoever's nominating films such as Meet the parents and Forest Fump clearly has no idea what a bad movie is really like.
I give u -
Eraserhead and......... Highlander 2.
I challenge anyone to find a more excruciating way of spending a few hours short of entering a time capsule and going backwards to become a Spanish Inquisition victim.
Oh and Armageddon must get the biggest budget piece of turd award. The dialogue made me cringe all the way through. It sucked harder than Debbie did Dallas.

I'll never get tired of naming & shaming the following film in these threads:
Cthulu Mansion (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/cthulhuman/index.html)
Anyone else been unfortunate enough to watch it?
truly the worst films I can remember seeing in recent history..
Cats & Dogs (please... let me go to the dentist instead.. less painful!)
January Man ... fabulous cast... dreadful dreadful film... borderline torture...
(Kevin Kline, Alan Rickman, Mary Elizabeth Mastrio-thingy, Harvey Keitel, Rod Steiger) and its astonishingly bad bad bad.
Fast & the Furious was also bad.. but not as bad as the 2 above.

Walked out of Fast & The Furious at the cinema, also Ravenous and Twin Dragons, none of which appealed after the first 20 minutes or so. Maybe I should have stuck at them, I don't know...
I also fell asleep during The Matrix, went back to see it again the next day and regretted it. I know I'm alone on this one, you don't need to tell me! :)

Oh god, what an awful question to ask someone! My favourite films of recent years have probably been : American Beauty, Fight Club, Amelie, Chasing Amy, Memento, Apoc. Now Redux, Moulin Rouge. There. Now you've got me pegged as a certain type of cinemagoer. ;)

Rumors of my death have been greatly exagerated.
So Arch and Mr Twain are one and the same?
Its always quite entertaining to see what other people like/dislike.............
I personally give every movie a chance and there are a lot of movies I found to be good.
I liked Pearl Harbor as much as I liked Armageddon - the storyline might be very thin but the visual and audio effects are amazing. Frankly these are the kind of movies that make DVDs so great.
But then you have "things" like
15 minutes (godawful)
Street fighter (barf-o-rama)
Mission to mars (plain bad)
Battlefield earth (OMG)
Driven
End of days
Shaft
and I only watched them once as watching them again would be a complete waste of time and having watched them once is more than enough for me.
It always depends with whom you watch a movie and what your mood is i guess, as I have watched Deuce Bigalow - male gigolow with some friends in a long **** up night and found it quite funny.
I bought it the following week and found it to be more than crappy.
thats just my 5 p
Inspector Gadget has got to be the worst movie ever.
i have to put dogma in here. it was a pretty decent film up until they brought alanis morissette out as god. now if that isn't reason enough to hate a fil then i don't know what is. also, charlie's angles - made me cringe when they tried to tell jokes.

Got to disagree with both of those. Charlie's Angels was fun in a no-brain way, and Dogma was good (not the best of Kevin Smith's films, but still watchable enough) - and Alanis as God was pretty endearing IMHO.
can't see how you'd call charlie's angles fun. it was truly terrible and not funny in any way.

Can't think of a comedy that's made me laugh as hard as the ending of Mission to Mars. I'd heard rumours of howls of laughter at test screenings, but thought it was just exaggerated - until I saw that sequence with the alien hologram.
Would love to know how bad the original ending was to make them think that was better!
One of my own least favourites (and worst purchases), and I know this isn't a popular view, was Being John Malcovich. Found very little to like about it from start to finish. Must watch it again though - maybe I was just in a bad mood?
