Hi again, sorry for startin a new thread but needing some help with connection of my new system to my ps3 via optical cable!
Am I missing something or isn't it just a case of connecting the home cinema to the ps3 via optical cable, as I did previously with my Samsung Ht-x30?
Or is there something different about the z310 that I don't know?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I wanna sit back and try out the new system with T2:Skynet on blu ray! Lol! ;)
You also need to select the correct input - on the remote, press the AUX input button until DIGITAL IN (D.IN) is shown (- it cycles through DVD/CD - D.in - aUX 1 - aUX 2 - USB - OSD iPOD and FM).

yeah buddy, done that and still no sound through d-in! :(
Have you told the PS3 to output via optical? Could it have forgotton? If you use the PS3 with hdmi in the meantime it could be remembering that setting.

yeah Jester, tried that too buddy!
Been messin about with it now for 3 days and still no joy! Tried every conceivable settin I could! :(
Do you have any other source with an optical output you could hook up? Does a regular dvd output surround audio via the Z310 when played on the PS3? It would help to try and narrow down where in the chain of equipment the problem lays.

Hi again! Well I've been to Curry's and they hooked up the system in-store using both my own and a brand new optical cable with still no result! So I decided to come back home and try again!
I decided just to wiggle the optical cable a bit at the end that goes into the home cinema and...guess what???
Sound!!!
Providing I don't move the connection any, the sound seems to be constant ie. no drop-out!!!
So my question is now this, what would make this happen? Is it a fault with the optical socket on the home cinema or is it the cable???
If I remember, I paid £20 for the cable which is a Toslink. I'm no expert but I'm guessing this is a pretty decent cable and should not need "wiggled" around to make a connection!
Any ideas appreciated thanks!
Unlikely to be the cable, since you mentioned that an alternative one was tested in-store with the same result. Do they have another HT-Z310 you can try, in order to see if the optical input socket is either overly sensitive on this model, or alternatively the one on your system is loose/faulty.
