Samsung B2100 - alternative words when using predictive text

Help! My wife has just got a Samsung B2100 phone and, according to the manual, when using predictive text, if there are possible alternative words, a list of them appears from which you select the one you want. I have tried everything I can think of, but I can't get this list to appear. Please can anyone shed some light on this?

When you input a word and it is not correct keep pressing the 0 button and different words will appear in the black box. Guess they just did not get around to writing the book too well. Great phone having tried every solid phone so far.

Good answer Alan, actually I have recently purchased Samsung B2100 (http://www.fones.com/mobile-phones/samsung/samsung-b2100-xplorer-extreme-solid.html) for my father and the same problem they had faced with the mobile. So, if you already got the solution for that then please help me how to do that?? Thanks in advance.
