Looking round the HK DVD shops - there seems to be quite a few DVDs around this price. But they all seem to be cheapo rubbish with forced subtitles in Chinese and English.

Are there any good ones at around £5.50 then?

Thanks. :)

You want to know if any of the titles that are around $40 at DDD/Coola are any good? Yeah there are some really good films & DVDs to buy, but i could do with a small list of films you like before i'd have a guess as to what film's you'd like.

Well, from that list i'd recommend Bio-Zombie if you haven't seen it already. I found it to be a really enjoyable horror comedy, think Dawn of the Dead crossed with BrainDead, with the budget of Bad Taste! :)

Here's some other suggestions:

The best quality $40 HK DVD i've seen is Millionare's Express which is basically a HK Western starring Samo Hung, but there's not much Kung fu until the end, when you have some blistering action set-pieces.
Longest Nite: I guess you could call this a kind of HK Usual Suspects, it's a dark moody triad film with plenty of twists.
A Hero Never Dies: Belongs to the Heroic Bloodshed genre that The Killer & ABT are in, but this film is slightly melodramatic. Worth watching if you're a fan of Heroic Bloodshed films.
Magnificent Scoundrels & Legend of the Dragon: You seen Shaolin Soccer? if you liked it you may well find these titles funny. i enjoyed them anyway, particularly Magnificent Scoundrels.

You could also click the link on my sig & see what $40 titles got decent ratings in the HK film poll.

Prodigal Son is a class old school Kung Fu film starring Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung (who also directs!)

Only about £5 from DDDhouse

Prodigal Son is brilliant, but it's getting the HKL treatment in a couple of months, so i'd wait a few weeks & get that version.

Pete Williams - You...!

I'm going to check out Shaolin Soccer very soon. In fact, when I get my bloody computer sorted, I'll order it.

Loads (especially for pure action)
i recommend: (all HK40$)
Righting Wrongs
Gorgeous
Who Am I?
Where's Officer Tuba?
Tiger Cage
Royal Warriors
Prodigal Son

in fact - look at all those at $40 and read the relevant reviews on Dragons Den, and other review sites (link in sig)

There are two versions of Prodigal Son on offer at DDD House - what's the difference between the HK$40 version and the HK$90 version?

Find out here (http://www.asiandvdguide.com) The $90 one is the 'classic' English dubbed version.

Just ordered the Universe version of Prodigal Son. Not bad for around £6.50 from DDDHouse! First time I'm using them.

the Universe one is cheaper, uncut with original language and a superb print (hkl wont need to do much!)
the Megastar one includes the English dub, but is cut.
