Im using WinDVD 3.0 on my computer, which has a soundblaster 5.1 soundcard, and Cambridge Soundworks surround speakers.

WinDVD has the DTS logo in the 'about' section. Today I tried playing Terminator 2 Special Edition, which has DTS, but there was no audio at all. I had to go into the audio menu and select Dolby Digital 5.1, and then it worked.

Do I need to make any changes to my setup to get DTS sound? Im a bit of a newbie when it comes to home cinema!

I think i'm right in thinking that the soundblaster 5.1 doesn't have dts decoding which may explain your problem.

If you want dts sound you need to get a new soundcard, i'm at a loss at the moment thinking of one that has dts.

The cleaner, what the sound card can and can't do is immaterial to WinDVD 3.0, which can decode both DD and DTS in software. The DTS is an optional extra though. I can play back DTS tracks fine on my old SBlive! 1024, which only does four point surround output and has no internal handling for even DD. Krycheck, go to audio options and make sure its not in spdif pass through mode and is in 6 speaker (5.1 output) mode. IIRC, the SBLive! 5.1's can do DD decoding internally, which is effectively what spdif pass through does with them, so that would explain why DD worked with spdif set. Other then that I can't help.
