Watched Smallville, Dollhouse and Heroes too - but they belong on a "worst" list. Very disappointed by Galactica too, which I felt has been WAY over-rated by many (not necessarily in this thread - just in general).

9 BSG
10 Life
11 Terminator
12 ER
Of those I think only Lost managed to maintain my excitement levels as high as previous seasons.
A lot of them managed to pull it together for a good finale though.
1. Battlestar Galactica
2. Friday Night Lights
3. The Shield
4. Eastbound & Down
5. United States of Tara
6. Damages
7. Big Love
8. Californication
9. Dexter
10. Lost
11. Brotherhood
12. Weeds
Hard to pick 10 sorry, In all honesty all 12 of those shows have been superb this season and it seems harsh to rate them as such as they're all pretty much equal in quality and enjoyment for me.
These have all been good but not upto the same quality as my previous 12
24
The Office
My Name Is Earl
Ugly Betty My guilty pleasure
30 Rock
Everybody Hates Chris
Terminator: SCC
True Blood
Flight of the Conchords
Entourage
South Park
Prison Break
Also enjoyed Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and LA Ink in the dodgy 'reality' category.
I finally gave up the ghost on Heroes. When you get a backlog of 6 episodes and you'd rather watch the local news than continue on with that drivel you know it's time to move on.
34 entries so far with 65 different shows voted for.
One show is obviously romping it, but still very close between 2nd-5th.
The once mighty "Heroes" is languishing down in 52nd place with only one person voting for it so far. :)

4) Dexter
5) 24
6) Lost
7) The Office
8) How I Met Your Mother
9) Smallville
10) Leverage
As you can tell, I haven't watched any new seasons this season (damn work).. Smallville, how did that make the mark? Well ignoring the Season finale, I really enjoyed most of the episodes this season, had a greater direction and feel to it..
Leverage was a welcome new show (only new one I watched), just had a nice little Oceans 11 feel but not entirely about stealing to it... fun to watch !
Only other non reality TV shows I watched were Battlestar (which I will no longer comment on), Prison Break (laughable), 30 Rock (just stable), My Name Is Earl (it's ok), The Simpsons (a few episodes which were really good... if only they were all like that)..
Ho hum, at least Penn and Teller's BS / Hells Kitchen starts beg of July ! =)

I don't watch enough telly to get a top ten together, but I like:
1. The Shield
2. Mad Men
3. Big Love
4. Damages
5. Brothers & Sisters (soppy guilty pleasure but well done for what it is)
I used to like BSG (till the middle of S3), Heroes (for the first half of S1), 24 (till S5), Weeds (till S2) and ER (till S7) but eventually got bored with all of them.

1. The Wire
2. The Sopranos
If it hadn't said (Season 08/09) in the title I would have had these two in the top as well. ;)
To be honest, I was expecting to see more mentions of The Wire, with it only recently starting on BBC2.
Technically it could be included, but then I suspect all the hardcore forum fans on here would just slap it down at no.1 despite originally watching it years ago, therefore I'm going to have to exclude it & obviously The Sopranos too.

Seems TV viewers do have short attention spans and memories, there was plenty of quality TV last year but everyone's mostly voting for series that ended only recently, despite 2009 being extremely lacklustre! I also have to say that looking at the votes, Boston legal really is the most under-appreciated TV series of recent years, only mustering one or two lowly placed votes despite its final season being an absolute cracker!
Still, at least Chuck is finally getting its dues!
Here's my list:
1. Boston Legal
2. Generation Kill
3. Lost
4. Chuck
5. Dexter
6. The Shield
7. Mad Men

Instead of thinking about the quality of the programmes, I tried to order them entirely by how much I enjoy watching them. If I had new episodes of these 10 shows, this is probably the order I would watch them in.
1. The Amazing Race

3. How I Met Your Mother
4. Lost
5. The Office
6. Entourage
7. 30 Rock
8. Smallville
9. True Blood

Close behind were Dollhouse, Rescue Me, Desperate Housewives and Greek.

That's all I've been watching (with a few exceptions) - the likes of Breaking Bad, Flight Of The Conchords & Dexter are on my 'To Watch' list. Heroes and Prison Break are the shows I started and dropped during the last seasons.
Latest update:
50 voters so far, 72 shows voted for. Four new entries in the top 10 from last year.
The no.1 show is still romping it, and a surprising 2nd placed show is also pulling away from the pack. 3rd - 7th is very tight as is 8th - 18th.

10. Dexter
Honorable mentions
Battlestar Galactica
Flight of the Conchords (not as good as first series)
Dollhouse (hoping for a better second series as the first was very inconsistant quality wise)
I may have to change my vote as I've started watching Chuck and Breaking Bad after seeing them mentioned here - and enjoying them both. Plus I've ordered Mad Men S1....
Lost
Chuck
24
Knight Rider :D
Dexter
Fringe
My Name is Earl
Prison Break
The Mentalist
Heroes
Tough call for the top 5 really - really enjoyed each show - gutted Knight Rider was binned :( it was soooo much fun.
Not enjoyed Heroes as much, but I don't think it's been anywhere near as bad as some make out.
Prison Break got gradually worst, but I enjoyed the series as a whole, but it was right to end it.
Lost won it for me because it was so consistantly brilliant, Chuck was fantastic, and 24 was excellent - dropped off a bit towards the end, hence it finishing in 3rd :)

No problem. Just amend your previous post & let me know & I'll do the necessary. Mad Men in particular needs all the votes it can as it seems no-one that watches it, is voting. :|
1. Lost
2. Breaking Bad
3. Dexter
4. Sons of Anarchy
5. Damages
6. 24
7. Party Down
8. Dollhouse
9. Sarah Connor Chronicles

I missed The Wire and Veronica Mars when they first aired but I caught up with them this year. I probably enjoyed these more than all the other shows.

oh a challenge
1) Lost
2) 90210
3) apprentice USA (season 8)
4) brothers and sisters
5) CSI las vegas and new york
6) criminal minds
7) bones
8) 30 rock
9) dexter
10) gossip girl
and honourble mentions to such gems as "sylista", "project runway", "America's next top model", "my super sweet 16" and "i wanna work for diddy"
Blimey! ... Now 91 different shows have been voted for. I didn't even know that many shows existed!
This probably won't be my final list because I've only seen the first episode of Lost thus far, and that'll almost definitely make it, but I wanted to put in a list now in case I don't watch it before this closes! The order is subject to change as well, a lot of them are really close.
Friday Night Lights
The Shield
30 Rock
Mad Men
Lost
House
Pushing Daisies
How I Met Your Mother
Dexter
So You Think You Can Dance
I also watched Project Runway, Desperate Housewives and Heroes. Not sure why I continued to subject myself to Heroes - while I don't love the other two I at least get some enjoyment out of them! Also I didn't pick up a single new show this year. (New to the networks I mean - watched almost every season of The Amazing Race, and been watching The Wire BBC2 pace. If The Wire were eligible it'd be number 1, no question.)
Not sure on my guilty pleasure. Probably SYTYCD, even though the dancers and choreography nearly lift it out of that status. Possibly Project Runway.
Still loads I haven't seen (if I'm honest, I still haven't seen the last two episodes of Mad Men as I missed them on iplayer, but it's been good enough so far to get in the list regardless.) Apart from Lost I'm interested in about 10 other shows that have been mentioned. There's not enough time in the day!

....only a few days left, get those votes in! .... The scoring is still very tight, it only takes one high score from an individual to boost a show into the top 10.
Crikey I am SO behind on so many shows I really like, like whole seasons behind, several in some cases!
So, of what I have actually watched my list is:
1. Lost
2. Mad Men (it was almost #1, almost!)
3. Damages
4. Battlestar Galactica
5. 24
6. Desperate Housewives
7. The Mentalist
8. American Idol (I feel dirty putting this in though!)
and I think that's it.
90210 and Heroes have been some of the worst telly in years! Quite an achievement! (why do I end up watching the crap and not catching up with the shows I actually love?! weird!)
Fringe I didn't click with, it just annoys the hell outta me.
and I can't vote for Harper's Island because a) it's kinda crap innit and b) it'll all depend on the denouement (which is after the cut off date). BUT I guess it could be my "guilty pleasure" vote because I have really looked forward to every episode even though it's rubbish! :D

Don't think I can manage 10, but here's my mini list:
1) The Shield
2) Damages
3) True Blood
4) Weeds
5) Entourage
6) Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles
7) Desperate Housewives
Think the only others I watched were 24, Heroes and a bit of Lost, but I didn't enjoy any of them (enjoyed bits of 24, but not consistent enough), so they don't make the list.
My ten:
BSG
Lost
Burn Notice
Sons of Anarchy
Supernatural
Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
Fringe
Dollhouse
Mentalist
Smallville (almost like a guilty secret)
Richie!, you forgot Friday Night Lights! ... Shame on YOU! :nono:But I still haven't seen season 3 yet! See, I told you I'm behind! I was all set to do a dvd marathon with it and then the news about the shorter versions came though and so on!
So many shows that I really enjoy like FNL, Chuck, Boston Legal, The Shield, Prison Break, Gossip Girl, brothers & sisters etc. etc. I just slipped behind at some point and then there's never enough time to catch up and shows like FNL I want to savour (plus it makes me cry like a girl on the rag, so I need to be in the right mood) which is probably why I watch so much junk in the interim as you don't have to concentrate much. At all. The average 90210 episode takes less than 10 mins to get through I find! - why do I even bother?! :D

Amended, sorted now?
I'm not liking the lack of Chuck in the last few top 10's :p
Updated my list (http://www.thedvdforums.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=8650811&postcount=84) to include Lost now that I've seen the whole season.
I've also seen The Big Bang Theory (both seasons) since I last posted. It was enjoyable enough, but aside from The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis I didn't love it. Just started with Chuck (season 1 I'm afraid, so no chance it'll make my list this year The 404!). Enjoying it far more than I thought I would to be honest.

Don't worry, it only gets 10pts for that list, not that it needs any more.
Any more voters out there? ... Closing date tomorrow evening at midnight!
Already have more voters than last year. Still very close between 3rd-to-5th & it would only take one or two voters to get certain shows into the top-ten, even at this late stage.

Thanks for all that took part.

I did not vote for FNL but have seen S3 since and its up there with S1 would have got 2nd or 3rd on my list.
Sad FNL was so low but glad it made the top ten on averages. I wonder if they can keep the quality there for this year? - that's another thread though.

Based on this year's scores, i've decided to check out a few shows that score highly. I'm currently working my way through Big Bang Theory which is excellent, and also intend to start on Breaking Bad afterwards.
What about everyone else? ... Any highly-rated shows that you don't watch, that you consider checking out due to scoring highly in our survey?
Also, looking through the list, there are numerous shows that are criminally underscored....
Big Love, Friday Night Lights, Californication, Generation Kills, The Unit, Southland, Life, Medium, Greek, Brotherhood & Rescue Me to name but a few.
Only noticeable ommission from the list is Nip/Tuck.
I already watch a lot, but I'll get round to watching the Shield at some point, more on word of mouth than it's placing here.
I might have to give Chuck a whirl seeing as that's rated quite highly. Sad to see Eastbound & Down and United States of Tara are quite low down, two series that hit the ground running with a couple of great opening episodes and remained consistent throughout.
Has the fate of Tara and Brotherhood been decided yet does anyone know?
Brotherhood was confirmed as being cancelled, earlier this week unfortunately. :|
I can't believe I'm the only person who voted for Monk! Or that so many people voted for average or terrible shows like Big Bang Theory, I can only assume it's ten times better now than it was in the early episodes because they were very poor.
The popularity of Battlestar Gallatica hasn't gone amiss, I will watch one day.

So The Sarah Connor Chronicles was officially better this year than Boston Legal, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Generation Kill.
You know, I think I could understand if Heroes was ranked #11, coz at least that show was actually pretty good once. I watched season 1 of TSC and it was completely mediocre, monumantally contrived, formulaic dirge from beginning to end. I hear the 2nd season is worse than the 1st!:eek:
Anyway, great work Tony!

So The Sarah Connor Chronicles was officially better this year than Boston Legal, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Generation Kill. :nuts:The latter 3 are all cable shows, so even here get less play than network. You know, I think I could understand if Heroes was ranked #11, coz at least that show was actually pretty good once. I watched season 1 of TSC and it was completely mediocre, monumantally contrived, formulaic dirge from beginning to end. I hear the 2nd season is worse than the 1st!:eek:You are of course wrong TSCC was great though it occaisonaly dipped and the shows premise and some very interesting characters (Cameron, Cromartie/John Henry and Derek and to a lesser extent John) were at times wasted. S1 > S2 but thats not to say the highs of S2 weren't many and that they weren't great.
