Anyone have any news on whether Homicide: Life on the Streets will ever be coming to DVD.

If ever there was a cop series deserving of a decent release (ideally as a season box-sets) it's this one.

Completely agree. If we can't have DVDs it would be nice if a UK channel could show Season 7.

Is series 7 the one with the Law & Order x-over ?

If so maybe C5 would be interested ?

I believ it is but I've deliberatley avoided finding out too much in case I actually get to see ot.

Channel 5 sounds a good bet. Think I'll drop em a line

There's one Homicide - LOTS disc available already: the movie that wrapped up the series (and reunited almost all the leading actors who had appeared in the show). (The title on the box is "Homicide - The Movie", incidentally - not to be confused with the 1991 David Mamet film).

I'd love this series to come out on DVD, but NBC Home Video don't seem to be very interested.

Oh, by the way, there were a few episodes with "Law & Order" crossovers: one in season 4 ("For God and Country", which Channel 4 decided not to show, presumably because it would have confused viewers), one in season 6 ("Baby It's You") and one in the last season ("Sideshow").

[SPOILER]

Of course, there were lots of other minor ties between the two series. Most notably, Richard Belzer's Detective Munch transferred to "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" when "Homicide" ended.

This was one of my favourite shows, but I've only seen a handful of episodes due to the terrible TV scheduling. A box set would be ace...

I'd forgotten that Munch also popped up in an episode of the X-Files. I can't remember which one it was but seem to think it was one with a back in time sequence to something that had happened in Baltimore. Can anyone emlighten me?

Can't say I've ever seen the episode myself but this must be the one you're thinking of.

Warning - link contains spoilers for the episode

That's the one. I was watching it with about 3 other people who all looked at me as if I was mad when I pointed out who Munch was and what series he featured in.

Cheers

I'd also love to see this series get a DVD release, or at the very least win a repeat screening on some satellite channel so that I can get the early episodes on tape.

BTW, one of the guys behind Homicide, Tom Fontana, is responsible for prison series Oz, which is coming out on DVD shortly.

Long live Frank Pembleton!

I only really saw the 6th season of this show, but it was enough to convince me I want to see more. Any idea if the earlier seasons are available at all?
