Not exactly cheap though!
I just hired a £25,000 VW Passat for £400 per week. Or I can have a £2000 Nikon body for the same price...
I know you would have to have the money in the first place but surely it work out cheaper to actually buy the item you want and sell it on a week later rather than pay those prices.
Rental is more if you need something urgently or you need a item for a particular shoot, then you add the rental cost onto the price your charging.

14.1 You agree to pay to us the full replacement value of the Equipment you hire from
us.
14.2 We will keep the deposit until the end of the hire and will return it to you at that
time provided the Equipment is returned to us in the same condition

Yup, same stupid system as Calumet for deposits.
I've ranted about this before, but you don't see car hire companies asking you to pay for the full value of the car before hiring it, do you? I'd use lensesforhire.co.uk every time, as they're a lot better value, and have a very reasonable alternative to a deposit system.
