i really like the look of this film and was wondering has anyone here seen it yet and if so is it any good (also if you have the dvd whats it like) ?

Must say that from the trailer i like the way that they decided to do the action in an eastern way, from the trailer it looked pretty well done (though trailers always make you think that dont they :) )

Also, as it doesnt come out over here until July ( ) the dvd seems like a good choice (plus it would be easy to get rid of anyway if i didnt like it)

Don't you think the Hong Kong influence is getting just a little ridiculous though? It seems like every character in every action movie, regardless of where and when the film is set, can fight like Jet Li. In Dracula 2001, we had the spectacle of an English antiques dealer and a Transylvanian count fighting like black belts and now apparently the Three Musketeers are martial arts experts. If they remade Robin Hood today, Robin would probably use throwing stars instead of arrows and defeat Little John with a slow-motion spinning kick to the head!

Only from the point of view that it seems to get used in every modern action film to date.

Im actually quite keen to see it being used in films set in different times such as in The Musketeer. I think it would give a good spin to the tale instead of the usual 'slash, slash slash' mechanical movements that they usually do which i also tend to find a bit boring.

And that sounds like a good idea for Robin Hood when are they making it ? ;) :D

I would agree that as a whole the whole eastern influence is being a bit overdone but as i am a big fan of that type of style it doesnt bother me that much, though i can see why it would bother other people.

As soon as Kevin Costner has mastered the spinning kick to the head. :D

I do enjoy martial arts when it's well done but it's been so over-used lately that I'm really starting to miss the old skool fight scenes which were about people trying to hurt each other rather than defy gravity, like John McClane vs Karl in Die Hard, Indiana Jones vs the Nazi sergeant in Raiders, Rocky vs Clubber Lang in Rocky III.

I saw The Musketeer on a plane last week and really enjoyed it, which is saying something, as I usually hate in flight movies - what with the dubbing, cuts, subtitles etc...

Very CTHD. I'll probably buy it when it comes out.

check out the not so favourable review at www.dvdfile.com , here's a quote which nicely sums it up...

Quote from www.dvdfile.com --- "For all its faults, The Musketeer includes one of the most useful Easter Eggs I've ever come across. If you press the eject button on your player, the disc comes out, meaning you never have to watch the film nor these horrible supplements again."

but yet the allure of DVD has made me put in a order at MT, so we shall see.. :o
