Anyone else's copy of this suddenly died for no reason?

Tried to watch it again on my Wharfedale recently, only to get a black screen and no response from the player - I even had to turn it off just to eject the disc! My DVD-ROM doesn't even recognise it as a disc.

The strangest thing is, my friend's copy gives exactly the same response on his player.

So, anyone else had experiences of self-destructing discs?

My old copy of the R1 High Fidelity used to be a **** to load, with slow menus etc. It did not die, but at times, I thought it had caused my player to hang. I have a new, still sealed copy in my shelves, but I doubt it will be free of the loading problems.

Sounds very much like another case of "laser rot" to me. :(

I do know that on my (and others too) PAnny A160, the trailers at the star of the disc don't play properly, they stutter, and there's loads of break-up, and the occasional freeze, but I can just skip by them and the rest of the disc plays fine.

My R1 plays fine too - however, my mates R1 Road Trip did exactly the same - just died one day.
