View Full Version : Ebuyer returns?
I have bought a Radeon 8500 from ebuyer and it's not working :(
Thing is instead of a replacement would they give me full credit instead? so I can get a Geforce 4 from somewhere else?
Thanks

The simple answer is yes.
The long winded answer is as follows:
I has exactly the same problem but with a Mobo. I kept emailing them about their returns policy but never got any replies. Eventualy i took a dive into the deep end and sent the thing back via registered post - (V.Important) with a note saying what was wrong and that i wanted a full refund.
3 weeks later (after more ignored emails), i finally got a refund which was about £10 less than what I paid for it with no explanation as to why. I had had enough by this point and could not be bothered to take it any further, which in retrospect i should have done, but when all emails are ignored and their phone queing system was running up my phone bill, i saw little point in continuing as i would have been more out of pocket.
So good luck:)
I had a problem not so long ago with a several thousand pound order I placed with them. Which I have since learnt that even though it may cost more elsewhere it is worth the premium just so I don't have to deal with the idiots. It really is a case of :brickwall:
I too tried to phone them but never got past 15 in the queue even though I was on there for 35 minutes. It got me to wondering if all the other people were returning stuff as well.
Anyway to cut a long story short I went through weeks of emailing and trying to phone only to get through in the end and send the goods back (by email). At this point it was up to 3 weeks, I then received replacements which were also faulty so I emailed again (no reply) and then I noticed the fax number.
Your best bet is like myself send the same email on high priority to every single email address they have outlining your problems and not asking nicely but demanding (not rudely, just firmly) a FULL refund including shipping as it is their fault (remember to keep all receipts from the post office). Then you want to follow this up with a very long fax, that is what seemed to eventually work for me, a whole 6 A4 pages of complaints about what had gone wrong and how I had contacted trading standards which I did (they recommended to include in the fax that they would step in unless it was sorted). In the end I got my money back but that was 6 weeks in total.
I have decided to stear well clear of them in future, they are ok if nothing goes wrong with your goods. If you get anything that doesn't work however then you will have a hell of a time trying to get a refund. Even my ex work colleague who now works for another IT company has had similar experiences as mine.
Good luck with getting a replacement m8 I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :)
Also just remembered, if there is anyway you can think of to record that the card doesn't work it is a good idea, as they seem to have a nasty habit of trying to claim it does work but they will refund anyway minus a re-stocking fee.

Under the EU Distance Selling Regs, if you want a refund they have to give it to you whether it's working or not, otherwise they are breaking the law. I think you have a week or so from receipt of goods to inform them of your intentions.
Oh, and under the same regs charging a 'restocking fee' is also illegal.

so who are the best people for returns??
Stu
I found the best way to contact them was via the fax:
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/about/index.html?action=Y29udGFjdA==
All contact addresses are on this page.
It's probably best to email all accounts and send a fax as well that way you should hopefully get through on one, although this is ebuyer.
I would avoid the phone like the plague as I have yet to get through to anyone you just get stuck in a bottomless phone pit.
Thanks for the replie's guys.
Ok I've decided to tell you the truth as you all appear to loath ebuyer so much :)
I bought the card second hand of a for sale forum it was bought of Ebuyer originally and is on eof the SuperGrace electronics ones.
Now after purchasing it it doesnt work :( and I don't think I'm going to get a refund of the seller :(
So a though came to me off buying tha same model from ebuyer and simply swapping it with the non-working card and returning it and so getting my money back.
Dishonest I know So flame away if you wish but I REALLY can't afford to have wasted money like that :(
thanks

Can't you go back to the person you bought it off? I mean if it doesn't work you should demand the money back.

tell him you will contact the police and prosecute under internet fraud
that will pout the wind up him
Stu
Is there any action I can actually take over this?
i assumed that there wouldn't be, but if there is (something to put teh wind up him :)) then I can try that instead.

Doubt you'd be able to do anything legally short of taking him to the small claims court. Of course - if he had any savvy - he'll just say it was working when he sold it, so it'd be a bit difficult to prove otherwise.
It may still be under manufacturers warranty, you never know. It might not be compatible with your hardware either, some Athlon boards just don't like the GF3 & 8500s due to voltage issues.
Does it just not display anything?
It just display about a milliion artifacts on the screen.
I tested it on another machine and the same thing happens.
Apparently the guy I bought it off had it overclocked to 300/300 when it should only be 250/250 so I think it did some damage to it :(
