Got one? Yes :)
Where to get one cheap? No :(
You rarely get Arcam at discounted prices unless it's old stock or a sale. I remember speaking to a salesman in my local hi fi store and ge told me Arcam run a tight rule on recommended retail prices and discouraged discounting.
Urban Tiger - hows it going mate? I always seem to be getting equipment advice from you :) How is your Arcam? What did you pay?

Billy Vee (Essex??) are advertising this in the current What Hi-Fi for £329, down from £399.
Excellent player.
Thanks mate - I've got What HiFi, I'll check it out :)

Hi Tee, Its going well thanks M8 :)
I love the CD player. I have a Pioneer 737 DVD player which is supposed to be a half decent CD player. Compared to the Arcam, it sounds lean with a lack of punch . Without a comparison, the Pioneer was OK, but after hearing it, I had to have it.
That £329 deal sounds pretty damn good as well, what are u using at the moment?
Please don't ask what CD player I'm using at the moment ;) It's a cheap Sony, lets just leave it at that! I've got a 717 and I'm upgrading my Sony STR-DB830 to a Denon 3802 so I thought the CD player demanded an upgrade..... I'm also considering swaping my Paradign PS1000 for a Rel Q150E - what do you rekon??
Cheers

You should notice a nice difference with the Arcam but take your old player (in a brown bag ;)) to the shop and try it next to the Arcam to make sure the improvement is worth the cash.
As for the sub, I have a PDR10 and it suits me fine, but then I don't have the biggest of rooms. If I had the cash I would certainly be looking at REL.
I'm not even going to demo it - after all the good things Ive heard, I'm just gonna find a good price and buy it :) Maybe someone will even buy my Sony??

This arcam gets very good reviews (make sure you partner it with equally good stuff to get the best out of it) I am sure one seller in what hifi is selling it for £299 (the ads on about 8 pages in green, very near the richer sounds ad) I have seen these jump to £429 recently, so if you can get them for 299-329 its a bargain.

I think the reason for the lower priced models is that the CD72 has recently become the CD72T - new transport and other mods are reckoned to make it even better. Whether you or I could tell the difference between the two is moot though, and the plain old CD72 for around £300 is a bargain is anyone's books.
I've seen that ad for £299 - it definitely seems the one to go for. I'm going to be running the player with a new Denon 3802 so I rekon they'll be matched pretty good?!
Will I be able to tell the difference between the new CD72T and the 'old' CD72? I think you're right mate - not a chance ;)
