Reviews at Amazon.co.uk suggest that next week's R2 release of Billy Liar may not only be missing any kind of extras at all, but is Pan'n'Scam as well! Anyone know for sure? This is wretched and truly stupid if it's true.

And please, no smart-alecs just posting "buy the Criterion", 'cos I already have and I was just hoping to make a comparison with a nicely-rendered PAL print next week...looks like slim chance of that...curse you, CanalPlus/Warner UK, spend some of your amassed fortune and buy a clue!

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Well, now at least there's no excuse not to buy the Criterion if you love the film.

Update

Blackstar advise that they have just received a new press release from Warner UK advising that the R2 will be 2.35:1. There is still no word on any extras or whether the transfer will be anamorphic, but at least it's a step better than where we were a week ago...!
