The consensus on opinion on here is Crumpler if your looking to be cool and down with the kids or Lowepro for functionality etc so been looking mainly at those two brands, but there is so many "flavours" I am confused as hell. Can someone give me a break down of the differences (mainly looking at the lowepros).

Also at the moment kit is minimal (D40 with an 18-200 and 18-55) I assume I will be looking at the Lowepro 200 range? The Flipside looks good.

I have the Lowepro Flipside 300 (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=8&url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000YA33DC/thedvdforums-21), cost me £38 from Amazon, great bag, gone up in price now though, but personally I would still pay the going price, used it in Scotland and access was great.

OMG and I thought Billingham made the ugliest bags.

Right, someone suggested an alternative that I really like but can't remember what it was as the post has gone

It was me and I suggested a Tamrac :)

(and Billingham bags are beautiful! I love the canvas and leather straps - very classic styling)

Thats the one! I like the Tarmac Speed Areo 85 as I can put the Laptop in there too, but at £90+ its alot more expensive than the Lowepro Flipside 200

I've been on the search for a small bag for my kit especially when hiking (with backpack of hiking gear). I think I'm converting on either a belt system or the Domke F5X series (F5XA, F5BX). One other possibility is the Lowepro Off Trail 1.

See my delicious links under bag: http://delicious.com/james/bag

I've got this one http://www.we-sell-crumpler.co.uk/CrumplerBag.asp?Name=Crumpler-Zoomiverse&BagID=1075, a little more expensive but enough space to grow with you as your amount of gear increases. It is VERY big though, probably wouldn't get it on a plane as hand luggage !

Superb build quality and tons of little nucks and crannies for putting stuff and then forgetting where you put it :)

I've got the Lowepro Orion Trekker II which is great although I did miss my Pretty Boy crumpler at first because as a shoulder bag I could access the bag on the move without taking it off. With a rucksack type you'll have no choice but to stop and remove the bag unless you have someone with you who can grab a lens from it while you still wear it which I often do. The flipside series look good as well but you will have no option but to stop and take those off.

You! Outside!
They make classic bags!

Ugly? Really?

OP - Tamrac make some really nice bags too. I've got a couple that have lasted very well and are perfect for a small kit.
Personally I find the materials on my Tamracs much more suitable than on my Crumpler (which I rarely use because it's just too bulky and like a reverse Tardis). Also, whatever you think, Crumpler now screams 'expensive laptop/camera gear inside'. The tide has turned for them being discrete I think.

Edit: I looked at some Domkes at a camera shop the other day and they're bloody lovely. Punishingly expensive for what they are though. I think the Billinghams are better value personally.

These are good:

http://www.kata-bags.com/product.asp?p_Id=401&Version=Photo

Plenty of room for a small collection of lenses and bits and bobs, with a compartment for a jacket, food etc. Easy access to the camera stuff in the bottom section. Laptop space too. I bought one for my last holiday and it was great, comfortable and light. It has a separate rain cover too.

I'm glad I don't or I would be walking round with one of those blissfully unaware of the people sniggering and laughing behind my back :D The few people I've seen around with them tend to be guys in their 50's with beards.

Seriously though I'm sure they're a good bag it's just that I have never liked the look of them.

And tweed is very practical.

I got Lowpro slingshot as I prefer a backpack style but with easy accessibility. I had a shoulder style bag but didn't really like it as kept on banging into my side and also altered my walking posture. It's also easier with a backpack if you need to carry over stuff around as well like kids.

Looks like the Fipside will be the winner, not got much kit at the moment so would be daft to go over board, and as such I think I can get away with the Flipside 200, and look again when I have more kit.

I think the situation is reversed here in the States. I just ordered a Domke F5XB in olive (urgh? I hope that turns out ok) for about $50. Hopefully it will be just the right size for a small hiking kit, if not it may go back to the store.

I've also been looking out for an everyday shoulder bag that is smaller than my Lowepro Minitrekker rucksack that will fit a D80 with 70-300 attached and one other lens. I do like the look of the Domke F6 but they seem to be costing around £80 here.

Looking for another bag! I have a big lowepro rucksack but fancy a crumpler shoulder bag. Does anyone have a muffin top 3000? They look big enough yet small enough if you get me. Any advice appreciated.

ok guys, I need a shoulder bag after getting fed up with dust and sore shoulders from my current non-camera specific bag.

Needs space for probably 2 or 3 cameras(no lenses, just film cameras like a tlr, holga, slr and couple of polaroids).

Basically, what's a good large-ish shoulder bag that doesn't make my shoulder absolutely kill after a few hours of lugging heavy stuff around? Or are they all rubbish for that, and I should get a rucksack? I guess however, getting a smaller shoulder bag might be good, stops me from carrying so many cameras around:lol:

Something that doesn't look like the Billingham either :p

I ended up getting a muffler top 7500 too! Wanted a messenger boy, but amazon only had the larger muffin tops in stock. Received last night, and it's a bit smaller than i thought, but looks perfect fit for a polaroid, holga, tlr, and film!

Haven't had chance to sort a review out yet! Just getting to grips with the bag.

I agree, it is pretty small. But it fits my dSLR just fine with some memory cards. Along with my P & S. Will work well as a carry on too, as will fit my ipod and other carry on stuff in. Overall, pretty pleased.

What colour did you get?
