Signed, but Dysney is not really known to listen to their customers!
The petition is getting the attention of the Hong Kong media, so it seems that the petition could do some good.
So SIGN IT!

What are the HK media saying about it then Tequila? Are the HK's as pee'd off as us when it comes to the butchering of their films overseas then?
www.monkeypeaches.com have a newstory regarding the HK Media coverage of this petition.

I can't read chinese but I will ask my dad to translate it for me.
It was the same article that was mentioned on monkeypeached.com. Here is what they said.
"It said the petition, asking Disney for "respectful treatment of Asian films", was initiated by a "fan of Hong Kong movies" and 444 signatures have been gathered (current number is over 800). It said the petition has listed many bad practices of Disney, like changing story and dialogue, removing footage, renaming films and replacing music scores. It also reported fans' disapproval of Miramax's decision of renaming SHAOLIN SOCCER to KUNGFU SOCCER. In fact the English title chose by the original filmmaker is already very Americanized, because only in two countries, the United States and Canada, soccer is called soccer. In the rest of the world, it is football. In addition, SHAOLIN SOCCER and Jackie Chan's THE ACCIDENTAL SPY will be released in North America on the same day, April 8th, by Miramax and its subsidiary Dimension. "

I think it shows how strongly most fans of these films feel about the things Disney intend to do, and have already done. The big question is will they listen? It would be stupid & ignorant of them if they didnt as its so easy to import from Asia these days, that it will be the choice of us all to continue doing just that & stick 2 fingers up at Disnay & the Americanisation/butchering of some great films!!

I know what you're saying. Disney are a major corporation and I don't know if they will take any notice of this petition.
Also, I don't know if you've heard about this, but it was reported that Disney have been forcing US dvd suppliers to stop importing the R3 Universe Shaolin Soccer dvds to sell. Apparently, they even went as far as trying to stop HK based suppliers of the R3 version from selling the disc.

Theyre saying that this was all done with the approval of the films' stars or directors concerned:confused: I find this hard to believe & would hope that the directors & stars in question make a comment on the validity of this claim. If this is true then we're kinda sunk. Also it turns out that Disney/Miramax are attempting to make it difficult to import the originals from Asia:mad: , wether this is to the USA or everyone outside Asia (doubtful) I dont yet know, but surely this kind of thing cant be allowed to happen.
Lets hope that the petition has the desired effect....
