Got an old amp, a Yamaha A5 that has no HDMI inputs (looking at a new hdmi shortly)
I've got L+R stereo cables coming from my BD player to the amp, and also a coaxial lead now. I've gone into the player's menu and told it to use coax by deafult. When I switch my amp on and play something BD wise, all I get is stereo sound. Am I missing something as with my dvd player, the amp automatically changed to DTS or whatever?

Solved it! Found a page on the avforums that had something similar and now I can get 5.1 outputted.
