I have a Sony S735D and want to upgrade to a player with either SACD or DVD-Audio capability, and with a better picture quality too.

Was going to go for the Sony NS900 in silver, which both Techtronics and Home Cinema Heaven are selling for £400, but the HCH one although multi-region, won't play RCE discs.
However, I've heard bad things about buying DVD players from Techtronics...

Help!! Advice wanted!

Many thanks.

New NS900s are RCE ok, but you could get DVD-A a lot cheaper, such as pioneer DV646A, or Panasonic DVD-RA61. I`ve got SACD on my home machine and don`t rate it compared to DVD-A:( But thats just my own taste:)

I am also thinking about buying a new DVD player for about £500 (I currently have got the Samsung 709).

If you want the Sony NS900 I would suggest you have a look at this site

http://leconcepts.ww-w.co.uk/multi-region-dvd-players-home-cinema-equipment-uk.html

It is the cheapest I have found for this player, a friend recently ordered the Sony NS700 from Techtronics, 2 months of waiting for delivery meant that he called the above people and had a player delivered within 4 days (and two of those days were a weekend).

I am going up to the store soon to see the NS900 in action.

I take the other comments on board regarding the DVD-A players - but then I am a slave to the Sony "label"!

Stig Du, just out of interest what problems do you have with Your Sony picture wise. I have just bought Fellowship EE and have experienced compression artefacts in most dark scenes. NO ONE else it seems has experienced this problem so do you think this could be the fault of the Sony? I don't have any problems with other discs but i have checked the discs surface and they look fine. I would really appreciate it if you could give me any feedback on problems (if any) you have experienced with the player.
