View Full Version : Are there any plans for a WoW type Game on the 360... ? ? ?

Hey folks,

Just wondering if there any Games in the pipeline along the lines of World Of Warcraft but for the XBox 360... ?

Been playing Oblivion a lot, as has one of my mates and we were talking about how good it would be to do it co-op or in a group, WoW style.

How about Cross-Platform Games as well... ? Any of them due out... ?

There's Sacred 2 out in June, has 4 player coop online and 2 player coop on the same system.

That's the only WoW kinda style game I can think of offhand though it isn't of course an MMORPG more of a Diablo style game, there's also a few other RPGs coming out this year such as The Witcher and Risen (developed by the guys that made the Gothic games on the PC)

Yeah, The Witcher is an excellent RPG probably the best traditional RPG I've played since Baldurs Gate on the PC so that'll be a treat for console only gamers its very much a single player experience though.

I've tryed Sacred 2 in single player mode and wasn't blown away with it nor was I blown away by the first installment either, multiplayer strikes me as being fun but thats not saying much as most games are enjoyable to some extent with friends. :)

I'll be extremely surprised if both those games don't bomb when there released to consoles.

I think theres just a huge risk involved in starting an MMORPG. Blizzard IMO were never going to have any problems as they deservedly have a huge fanbase.

When you look at some of the high profile MMORPGs which have flopped and subsequently closed down I can start to understand why its such a risk to develop them for consoles, if they don't have enough players or a large sustainable player base then essentially the game is finished.

I commonly hear people on forums commenting on new games only having a large player base for the first few weeks of their release before everyone goes back to Killzone, Halo, CoD etc with that in mind I think its a scary prospect for any developer/publisher. :shrug:

Am definately going to give Sacred 2 a whirl as is one of my mates so we will be doing it co-op.

You'd think with the money Blizzard take from WoW Subs, they could put together a console version. :D

Age of conan is meant to be coming out for the 360 (unless it's been cancelled, as its struggling a bit on the PC right now). That sounds like what your after....

Square Enix are currently making a new MMORPG going by the codename Rapture. Since they already have Final Fantasy XI on consoles, it is rumoured that this new MMORPG will also be available on consoles. Square Enix are keeping their cards close to their chest so we know very little, we don't even know if it is set in Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or some other universe. Some have heard that this mmorpg will be out Q4 2009.
