The first 4 albums are out on the 4th May in remastered format. I am keen to get these, but the :dork: in me wants the collectors box as well. This is basically a box for the cd's to go in and comes with the first 4 albums and has space for the others.
I can only see the boxset at EIL, this company are famous for being pricey si I was hoping to find it elsewhere. Thing is I can't.
Anyone else sniffing after these remasters and knows wereI can stick a pre-order in for the collectors box!
Thanks in advance
They have already been released remastered a couple of years ago.
The only albums you need are:
Beggers Banquet
Let It Bleed
Sticky Fingers
Exile On Main Street.
Then maybe:
Goats Head Soup
Get Your Ya Ya's Out
Some Girls.
These can all be picked up for about £8.00 or less in remastered format.
Are these European or Japanese releases?
CD Japan has a load down for release in June:

Features the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD players). Part of a 13-album The Rolling Stones SHM-CD reissue series featuring the albums "Sticky Fingers," "Gosats Head Soup," "It's Only Rock'n Roll," "Black And Blue," "Some Girls," "Emotional Rescue," " Tatto you," "Undercover," "Dirty Work," "Steel Wheels," "Voodoo Lounge," "Bridges To Babylon," and "A Bigger Bang."
It doesn't say but most of these SHM-CD releases have been in mini LP sleeves and this usually means a box. Best place for them is eBay. All a bit pricey at the current exchange rate unfortunately.

Pretty sure this was a UK set, and standard remasters...EIL was asking for £42 for the 4 albums and the box.
Amazon.co.uk (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=8) was asking £9 an album but no box.

The albums that the Stones own the rights too (Sticky Fingers onwards.)get remastered repackaged every few years and unlike the upcoming Beatles cd's sound fine as they are.
The early Decca album's have been surprisingly unloved though.

If the Beatles re-issues do well, you can imagine whatever's been hanging over the earlier material to be sorted out. The Stones' early catalogue is a bit like the Beatles' in that the UK albums were messed about with for release in the USA so what WE consider to be their album chronology doesn't marry with what happened over there.
IIRC, the early US albums have been re-issued - they're just not what UK listeners would want.

I would tend to disagree, the first 4 due out on 4 May (Sticky Fingers, Goats Head Soup, Its Only RockNRoll, Black and Blue) were last released in the UK in 1994 and are all currently out of print.
Amazon are listing the box set by the way

Well no one really needs any of their 80's/90's records.
And from the first box set aside from the singles Black and Blue and It's only rock 'n' roll are poor albums.

Thanks both, guess I will save my money for the Beatles box set!
Has anyone bought this set, or any of the new releases? I've resisted long enough and I've bought the box set, as I wanted those 4 albums anyway. I will probably only buy Some Girls and Exile On Main Street (when it's finally released) from the remaining releases being remastered.
Anyone got any feedback on these new releases?
