I just got a booklet through with Sight and Sound this morning to publicise the new BBC Four channel. I don't know if this has been mentioned here before but they are to have a programme called The DVD Collection on Fridays at 11.30pm

" With the advent of DVD, many people are beginning to build collections of classic cinema alongside their shelves of CDs. The DVD Collection is an intelligent magazine show for lovers of serious cinema, guiding you through the growing riches of collectable movie classics".

That's all it says but it could be interesting (and probably short lived:))

Thought it might be of interest.

Just so long as they get someone who actually knows what they're talking about regarding DVD's (not Mark Kermode!) the programme could be fun. They'll have to feature more than R2 releases too, plus interviews with some of the top DVD producers, etc. to make it worthwhile.

Who would make a decent host? Jonathan Ross? ;)

This shows been running on BBC Knoweldge ( which is BBC 4 before the name change. ) for a couple of months. It's your typical late night film review show but with the Tom Cruise features replaced with Bergman features.
