I have a load of miniDVs which I never uploaded to my external hard drive, as the camcorder broke along time ago.
So my mate lent me his old camcorder and I downloaded a trial of Adobe Premier elements.
But when I click 'Get Media' then 'DV Camcorder' and then 'Capture', nothing shows on the screen although it plays on the camcorder. When I then hit Pause, I get the pop saying 'Recorder captured no frames'.

Can anybody advise me how to fix this?

I'm using firewire to connect the camcorder to the laptop.

are you connecting by usb or firewire. Most camcorders only connect by firewire. Usb for stills only.

Just realised I'd forgotten to mention that, so edited my original post before I noticed yours.
I'm connecting via firewire.

some camcorders need to be set to output on a menu system on the camera, done that?
May be the cable, try a different one.
Or try a different computer
try to isolate the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will give them all a try, especially the output possibility.
