the first two in the series of four new tv movies are out now.robocop:dark justice & robocop:meltdown .both non-anamorphic widescreen (despite the packaging claiming 16:9)no extras.definite improvement on the last sequel and the old tv series.
Even if it is better than Robocop 3 and the crap TV series, it's still bloody awful in my opinion! Made the mistake of buying the French release last year.

Unless you've seen all 4 parts i think its a little unfair to say it's awful.
Then again the mini - series could well be but i doubt it after the dire tv series! :)
Where did you get the dvds from as most places have them down for 25th February ?

amazon.fr had the french ones last year.
Any idea on the price, and if the last two will be released ? also what region ?
Dont fancy buying a 4 part series, if you can actually only get parts one and 2

also available at dvdsforafiver.com
so does anyone know when the other two parts are due out for this mini-series ?
Even if it does turn out to be bad i would still love to see it and would prefer getting all of the dvds in one go (and watching all four parts one after the other) rather than buying the first two and waiting for the last two.
Also, saltysam (or anyone who owns the uk disks) whats the quality of the transfer/sound like ?
Is it a good non-anamorphic picture ?
Is the sound 5.1 or surround ?
any info would be appreciated
cheers

the transfer is clean if a little soft-looking but i think that is down to the film stock used rather than the disc.in comparison with the french disc the french is slightly better due to being anamorphic but certainly not dramatically so.french is only dolby 2.0 whilst the cheap uk is 5.1 !this tips the balance in favour of the uk ,i think.in regard to when the other two titles will be available ,i have e-mailed the distributor,if and when i get a response i will post here.

Re the French Version.
Does it have all 4 episodes of the Mini-Series and does it have an English soundtrack with removable French subs?
Cheers

Being a bit of a fan of ol' Robo, I'm keen to get these. Are they 90mins. features?

I've just ordered them! Are they in the same vein as the first two movies? Do you know of any reviews?

I've seen some pretty in depth reviews. None of them speak to highly of the series.
Robocop is apprently a midget in Prime Directives and everyone else towers over him.
No, Im not joking.
Sounds very off putting.
These are both £5.99 at my local Blockbuster or from Play. At that price they're ok, but I felt ripped off with the 21 euros I paid for the first one in Germany. It's not as bad as the TV series - I'd say its on par with the third movie...
Just found the trailers at (link doesn't work)
Don't know what they're like as I haven't downloaded them yet.
Jon
they dont work as the site they're supposed to be from doesnt exist anymore.
I've actually been looking for the trailers and cant seem to find them anywhere!
Must have been a real hit for them to close down the official site :)
Also i emailed www.dvdsforafiver.com who are selling the first two parts of the 4 parter and they said that the other two parts are expected in April along with a boxset of all 4 movies.
Found a site for the series at SciFi.com (http://www.scifi.com/robocop/) which seems to have trailers.

No worries, i dont think you'll find many people rushing to watch them anyway :D
Actually i just had a thought, anyone know if Poundstretcher are doing these at all ?
Seems to be the type of dvds they would get instore, especially the price etc etc
Says a lot for the series doesnt it :)

Anyone got these yet? Comments on quality?
By the way, although the TV series was embarrasingly poor, the pilot movie for it was scripted by Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner (who wrote the original film). It actually has some witty touches, and I'd put it on a level with Robo 3.

quality is very good, especially at the £5.99 price point,non-anamorphic widescreen and dd 5.1 sound..
