Problem:

Wanting some sort of NTSC conversion to play back onto my TV that is only PAL happy. DVD player only outputs whatever the DVD is, no conversion.

Basically I have

A DVD player with
x2 - 1 RGB
http://www.techtronics.com/uk/images/audio-video/connector-RCA-phono-1.jpg Video

http://www.techtronics.com/uk/images/audio-video/connector-RCA-phono-1.jpg http://www.techtronics.com/uk/images/audio-video/connector-optical.gif Audio out

One multisystem video with
http://www.techtronics.com/uk/images/audio-video/connector-RCA-phono-1.jpg Video in + another phono for mono audio in
http://www.techtronics.com/uk/images/audio-video/connector-RCA-phono-1.jpg Video out + another phono for mono audio out
+ your normal RF input/output

Another video
x 2
http://www.techtronics.com/uk/images/audio-video/connector-RCA-phono-2.jpg Audio in
http://www.techtronics.com/uk/images/audio-video/connector-RCA-phono-2.jpg Audio out

I can take the video out from the DVD player straight into Video 1 and record fine (macrovision doesn't seem to be a problem). Problem then is, how to I get the 2 phonos out from the DVD player into the one socket on Video 1? I can choose either left or right, and it works fine, but won't I lose half the sound?

Video 1 is capable of recording the NTSC format straight onto NTSC, but then you have to run the video back to get the film in colour on my TV (both videos capable of running videos from NTSC -> PAL). It's the only way I can see of doing it, but wondering about the sound.

Or

If there's another way around it seeing as there's got be an NTSC converter in video 2 somewhere... can't this be tapped?

What happens when you connect the DVD direct to the TV and play an NTSC disc. Do you get a B+W picture?

IF so, then your TV can handle the frame rate OK - it's just the colour carrier it has a problem with. PAL60 sorts this, but if your DVD player doesn't have this option, it's not much help.
If your TV can accept an RGB input from the DVD, then this should sort out the problem too (you'll just have to enable RGB output on the DVD player).

Yep

Nope, guess not.

Nope, don't think it does accept RGB as I can use the RGB output to watch NTSC discs on an old Philips monitor (ex-BBC  )

Guess I'm at a dead end then unless I can get
- an NTSC to PAL converter
- or convert my Pal 50 to 60 somehow...

Bummer. Two videos capable of doing the former conversion somehow. :(
