View Full Version : Help please! Can't connect DS to internet
OK, just got my shiny new DSi and thought I would connect to the internet, get my 1000 free points and explore the world of DS Ware.
I have a Belkin router, no security on it, and currently have a PC and a laptop connected.
When I try and connect my DSi I get error message
Unable to connect to the internet. Check your connection settings and access point settings. For help, visit support.nintendo.com.
Error Code 052100 - 2
I have been to the support pages and it suggests that I should alter the transmission rate or something? But there are no options within the router I can find to let me do that.
If anyone could help I would be very grateful.
From the looks of things this might help(I hope).

Are you sure there is no security? The 1st 2 DS's only supported WEP, so if you are running WPA it might (not sure if they improved this on DSi) not work (but it should tell you in plain English). Or MAC address filtering?
You sir are a star!
Three hours of trying auto and manual settings, rebooting routers etc etc.
Just switched to box 4 as suggested and it connected first time!!!!!!
Must be a serious bug in the DSi somewhere...
Thanks
That was to MrDan. Adge thanks for your help. Deffo no security - I set it that way. I know I shouldn't but there is a reason.
Glad I could help a fellow red

You're happy that anyone could latch onto your connection and use it to view illegal material? What reason could be good enough to accept that risk?
It's not my connection Colin, it's my parents. If it was mine it would be secure - but they wanted it set up this way. "No-one's going to log onto our connection around here" was their exact words. I tried to persuade them.
It is an old people's home - and there are actually 8 completely unprotected wireless networks in this building.

With your history I'm surprised you're even giving them the option to not have it secured..!!!
