My player seems to have forgotten it plays blu-rays. One minute fine the next will only play dvds :( Anyone else have this issue or know of it? Have tried unplugging the unit for 24 hours but problem persists. Not a disc issue as it's refusing to play my entire blu-ray collection and they all play just fine on my PC.

How odd. Emailed amazon, player is only 4 months old, and they have despatched me a replacement! Don't they usually like to receive the faulty one back first? I was expecting to be fobbed off with a contact Sony support message.

Have now had an email telling me they have despatched a replacement and enclosed a link to print off a returns label for the old one. I'm assuming it's the laser unit that's failed? Didn't realise they had seperate lasers for blu-ray and dvd..

Yep, that's standard procedure for Amazon. One of the reasons I usually always order electronic goods from them.

Blue laser for BD and red laser for DVD/CD.
