Hi
Comet (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=37) have the ACER AOA150 White - £169.99 (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=37&url=http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/484261/ACER-AOA150-AW) / ACER AOA150 Blue - £169.99 (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=37&url=http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/484245/ACER-AOA150-AB) with...
1gb ram
120gb hdd
Linux
For £169.99
IMHO this is better than the asda deal at £150 due to the ram upgrade process. iPhone won't let me do a direct link :(

I Noticed the blue version (AOA150-AB) is the same price, is there any difference apart from the color?
And can you pick them up in store?

Hmm, the blue one is collect from store only, but none of the stores near me have stock..

The only thing stopping me getting one of these is the touch pad having the buttons left and right of the touch screen. I thought it was a ass to control.
Keep hoping for Dell (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=3&url=http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=702&a=60823&g=871344&url=http://adfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/ck/2397-52163-11728-1?!mpro=http://lt.dell.com/lt/lt.aspx?CID=5212&LID=122756&DGC=AF&DGSegHS&ACD=^^&AID=¤¤&DURL=) to do a deal on their Mini 9 Linux models.

Didn't most of the Asda ones come with 160GB even though it stated 120GB on the box, has anyone checked the ones bought from here?

Mine did come with a 120gb drive
Hi for anyone interested, Comet in Worcester, are doing these (blue model with Linux) for £155, they have 1 ex display and one new one left.
These ones are slightly better than the asda one as they come with 1gb ram.

Oxford store had these priced as £199. When I queried it, the assistant, confirmed they were now £169.99 but had none left and wasn't expecting any for 2-3 weeks...
BTW Currys which is located next door (in Oxford) has the the lower spec Windows model for £179, don't know if thats bargain...

Why not buy a cheap USB mini-mouse? I don't think many people do use the touch pads on notebooks anyway.
Why not buy the Forums linked one (with £50 off voucher) at Laptops-direct for £179.99?
Only thing is it's PINK........Great for the girls out there (or brownie points with wifes, daughters and girlfriends)!
It has 160GB and runs on Windows XP.
It's really good, I bought/collected one on Friday.
Bargain!

:)
Both at comet now out of stock :(
Bugger - don't know how i missed out on this one. Want to get a bargain netbook for my Dad. So far he missed the Asda deal, and the Sainsburys Medion Akoya too.
Now i have an NC10 and my sister has the Aldi Medion Akoya my dad is clearly getting antsy when he can't sit on the sofa checking his email and ebay
Just in case anybody is interested i have been looking on LaptopsDirect and they regularly get Acer Aspire One netbooks returned, i guess maybe because people don't realise what Linpus Linux is like. They show as being out of stock now but i have just spoken to them on the phone and they get them in regularly and currently expect more during this week.
They have A1 condition models which are box damaged/opened for £160, and then A2 which means box damaged/opened and cosmetic damage to the netbook itself for £155
These have 512mb on the motherboard and a 512Mb stick so can be upgraded to 1.5Gb for peanuts and have a flap to do the upgrade. You can also upgrade the warranty to 2years for £30 or to 3years for £40.
Going to check with my dad in a while and place an order later hopefully.
These do not have a flap to do the ram upgrade, you have to dismantle the laptop to get to the ram slot.Plenty of guides on the aspire one forums.

Gan canny with this! THERE IS NO FLAP TO UPGRADE THE RAM!!
Ah sorry it must be the one on LaptopsDirect that does not the model at Comet.

They have a specially designed model? Sounds odd to me!
no, there's 2 different "versions" i believe.
Basically, AFAIK, the linux version doesnt have a flap. The version designated for windows (tho may well have linux on it due to manufacturing) has a flap.
Also, the version designated for linux has 512k as standard. The version destined for xp has 1 gig (courtesy of Windows bloatware)

The model I got from Comet was a Linux one, it came with 1gig and does not have a flap to upgrade the RAM.
It is my understanding that none of them have a flap to replace the RAM...
Mine is the 1gb version, and no slot for the ram, the flap is for the optional 3g thingy!
Fair enough. This is not a dealbreaker for me - i've actually double checked with the sales guy at LaptopsDirect about the easy ram upgrade without invalidating the warranty and he must be mistaken.
Maybe he means that they can upgrade it for you and supply it with 1.5Gb of RAM - otherwise it would void the warranty
Best bet is to have a look on the aspire one user forums, theres loads of info for upgrades etc.

Agreed. Best place for anything Aspire one-ish :)
