I'm on a crap package with Orange. £35pm with a crap text/minutes allowance.

Currently have a Nokia 6220 which is only about 4 months old (Insurance replacement for 5 broken SE k850i's) so can hopefully sell that.

I can't see a phone on Orange that I particularly want as an upgrade. I'm tempted by the iPhone (Baa!) but fairly put off by the £45pm contract plus insurance on top.

So I'm stuck. Way I see it, there's several good phones on the horizon. The new Android phone is due, as well as the HTC HD upgrade as well. Is it worth hanging off and using a throwaway phone until some of these new ones are out?

I'm happy to pay about £40 per month contract, with approximately £5 a month on the insurance.

The iPhone seems to be good at everything but being a normal phone, to me. And now Sony-Ericsson seem to have gone pretty rubbish and I don't want to downgrade to Nokia from a SE I'm pretty much stuffed. My old W810i is still hanging in there so I went for an O2 simplicity SIM-only tarrif and am paying £20 a month rolling contract. I could probably get away with their £10 a month one if I didn't want that free internet.

I've just switched to simplicity to see just what is unleashed over the next 2 months

Isn't the iPhone £35 for 600mins/500text/unlimited data on O2?

24 month contract though, and £57 ontop if you want the 16gb Version.

18 month contract if you don't mind paying £99 for the phone. I'm guessing this is by far the better option but they know people would rather pay £180 for extra texts and minutes they'll never use plus a 'free' iPhone.

With a new iPhone rumoured for June/July I would hang on if you were considering one...
