View Full Version : Terminator Sarah Connor 2x21 - Spoilers!
OMG what an episode!
So much happened, Derek - what a shocker, the gang find out about Catherine Weaver and John Henry, Cameron about to spill the beans on Sarah's cancer, Sarah arrested.
And of course the absolute highlight - Donald Where's Your Troosers

And of course the absolute highlight - Donald Where's Your Troosers
He didn't even sing it right "Trousers".
Loved the bit where the little girl said that mummy (Shirley Manson) can't sing  . Obviously not a fan of Garbage then.
Fairly killing off the Connor clan now. Wonder if we'll get a proper conclusion to this or it'll die at the end of the series?
For me this series had at least twice as many episodes as it needed. It's just been too much filler. To a lesser extent BSG suffered from the same thing. The first season was tight and edgy but the others suffered from 6-8 episodes of padding. We don't need a TV season to have the 20-24 episode norm. I'd rather have 12-15 episodes of quality than 24 of ones that almost had you giving up on the series.
I liked how Derek's death was treated as if he was a lowly extra rather than a central character. Just some random bloke walking into the line of fire followed by what amounted to a 'meh, let's go' from Sarah. Not even a hint of a 'noooooooooooooooooooooo!' from John
good solid episode - liked the way Derek/Keith/Brian was offed very quickly
Cromartie doing that song was great
and nice to see Charlie Jade popping up as the new Terminator

Bye bye Derek, you will be missed even if only John shed a tear at your departure.
They've really hammered at removing everybody from Johns life recently. Riley, Charlie, Derek and now Sarah either through cancer or imprisonment.
An angry 16 yo John Connor with a pet terminator is not something to be sniffed at. I'm guessing LAPD will be his first target followed be Zeira Corp, wouldn't want to get in his way ...
Ellison I fear you will reap soon what you have sown, whether its Weaver or Cameron you are surely fated to die at the hands of Metal.
Confused about why the new terminator was targetted at Savannah and at exactly what Weavers end game is, she nigh on admitted to Ellison she's a robot from the future but she seems to heavily invested in creating a SkyNet with a moral code or at least one that can inter act with humans on more than a superficial level.
We all die for John Connor
I'm guessing the liquid metal faction are siding with the humans against the 'standard' terminators or at least they're trying to avoid the future conflict.

The T1000 told Jessie the answer was "no" though, admittedly we've got varying timelines as our heroes tread on butterflies plus there's nothing to stop them changing their mind at a later date.
Saying that, Cameron told the human Allison that she was from a peace faction, before offing a load of Johns soldiers, plus they've emphasised the Cain and Abel story and have John Henry refer to the unknown AI as brother and its a T888 that was sent after Savannah (though that still begs why? Does it infer that her influence on John Henries development is critical and hence a motive to kill her?) so there is a lot of evidence for the two skynet factions.
btw does anyone else think that they are aiming to re invent the show as Terminator the John Connor Chronicles?

I wouldn't be surprised if cameron went into the police station like in the first terminator film
Really enjoyed the episode, it was more like one of the quality episodes from the 1st series. Didn't expect Derek to be killed or so easily.
I will be ****** off if it does not get a 3rd series now, I agree the show needs to less episodes if they are going to pad it out like in series 2. Also if you introduce a character like riley, make the audience give a *** if she is going to die. Week after week, people on here (and other forums) wanted her to be shot or bludgeon by Cameron.

btw does anyone else think that they are aiming to re invent the show as Terminator the John Connor Chronicles?I hope so, It would be far more interesting i feel, Sarah character only has so much to her and i feel we've seen everything we've need to see about her half a series ago. All the dull episodes centred round her and with a bit of luck the studio execs have noticed this
John character in comparason has a lot of development to go and could fill a few more series at least. Especially if Camaron sticks with him as the relationship with her would get very complex (as hinted in the the flash forwards), as she's an attractive female and he's in his teenage years.

All the dull episodes centred round her and with a bit of luck the studio execs have noticed thisIt seems TV land struggles to write series with strong action based female leads, Both TtSCC and the Bionic Woman (especially) struggled in the writing room. Heroes is pretty mysognistic and Lost doesn't treat its female stars too well either.
However in this show they do occiasonaly manage strong Sarah centric epsiodes, its just also manage to come up with very dull explorations of her psyche which tell us v. little new.
I'd rather see new writers brought in than Sarah being replaced but if given no other choice then I'll be happy with TtJCC.
If this show isn't picked up that'll mean I've got no hard SF program to look forward to next year :(
Blimey! ... The blink-and-Derek-is-dead scene was fantastically cold 'n abrupt. Very un-TV-like. That'll teach the lucky ******* for sleeping with Megan Fox. :)
Great episode, hopefully leading up to a crackin' finale next week. And judging from the finale teaser, it does borrow from one of the best scenes from the original movie.

Also notice they describe next week as a "season finale" not a "series finale", so there's hope yet.
Finally, who here thought they'd ever witness a Terminator singing THAT song?!?
My god. This show has balls. Not just any balls, but gargantuan balls. Whapped out for all to see and it doesn't care who knows it. Seriously, the death of Derek is perhaps one of the TV highlights of the year. Not so much in the fact that he's dead - I mean, I liked Derek :( - but in the way he was killed off. One shot, one kill. Bam. In seconds. Just like that. I mean, good grief, what other TV show would do that to a major character? I can't think of one. They'd have a whole episode devoted to how brilliant he is and how everyone loves him, and one day he'll live happily, before tragically killing him off at the end with slow-mo and distraught reaction shots from all the other characters.
But this; bam. He's dead. Move on. Goddamn, that's your balls right there.
The only bad thing is I get the impression that a third season isn't on the cards, so they're trying to bring everything pretty much to a conclusion by the end of this season. Which makes me sad.
I'm just glad that we got to see a Terminator actually do his job against the good-guys for once.

Bearing in mind Derek's pathetic level of combat awareness (as seen last week), it's a miracle he lasted this long. The character was lame and ran out of things to do as soon as Jesse (another awful character) was offed. I think the bottom line here is that John Connor only 'needs' one protector from the future.
Jesse was killed? I thought she got away (but yes, not a very likeable character - pretty much the same one she played in BSG Razor)

sarah's character needs some better writers as soon as she starts having a flashback eg in the jungle , the viewers suffer Narcolepsy

I hope this season finale episode lasts longer than 45mins. If it does come back for Season 3 which I doubt it I hope they make it 13 episodes.
Oh, bum. Word is that the show is indeed cancelled (http://www.fmqinc.com/terminator-cancelled/).

So... did the actor who played Derek just want to quit? That's the main thing that went through my mind when I saw his death.
Actually, I happened to be looking away from the screen for a few seconds, then glanced back to see a shot of Derek with a gunshot wound in his head, and I thought, "Whaat? No, my eyes are playing tricks." I rewound and watched him get shot.
THEN I thought, "Did the actor who plays Derek just want to quit?"

the sets being torn down doesn't mean much if you've been watching the show - i doubt they'd need any of the current sets for S3 if it happens - and the actors doing other jobs, well they would be in the season break right now and would be free to do other jobs for a while
not saying it isn't true, but the article is just hearsay

hmmmm.
Question: There's a rumor that Warner Bros. tore down all the Sarah Connor Chronicles sets, which typically means a cancellation announcement is coming. What are you hearing? --Val
Ausiello: The SCC sets have not been struck, a Warner Bros. insider maintains. They've simply been "shuffled around." (Hopefully not from the soundstage to the landfill).

Looks like John Connor is going to destroy the wrong AI and ironically hasten the coming of Skynet and Judgement Day. It would seem that Weaver has come back in time to develop an AI that will enable the creation of her "species" and machines that can live in harmony with humans. But once John Henry is destroyed the world will be left with his "brother" - a seemingly malevolent force and also Weaver who will have her worst feelings about humanity confirmed.

That would be a good way to end the series IMHO. It wont be left hanging like other cancelled or unfinished series and still ties in nicely with the terminator universe.

Out of curiosity - was that spoiler speculation, or have I just spoiled the series finale for myself by reading it..?

I said "Dammmmnnnn!" when that happened. No fanfare, no slo-mo, one shot and done. Move on. Expected Charlie to die in the last ep, but this was a big surprise.
So that's three (minor?) characters killed off in three eps: Riley, Charlie and Derek(y). Four if you think Jessie got offed. It's like the redshirt cull at the start of this easo of Lost.
A lot of mysterious things are happening. Clearly there's a new group we know nothing about, possibly related to that warehouse group. My guess is that the T1000 with a scottish accent is actually a good terminator and they showed her killing people to throw us off the scent. She's building John Henry (great album BTW) to learn more about the other terminators or to make sure they get built, but with peaceful motives.

It doesn't seem unlikely at all, the new line-ups get revealed every May I think, although hit shows get renewed early. According to tvsquad.com Dollhouse and TSCC are at risk, and it could be either or both.

So... did the actor who played Derek just want to quit? That's the main thing that went through my mind when I saw his death.
As far back as San Diego Comicon last July on the Sarah Connor panel, Josh Freidman stated that one cast member on the panel wouldn't survive the end of series 2, which considering the reaction of ALL the major cast, was the first they had heard of it. (I know, it could have been an gag for the fans, but to me they generally seemed surprised (and a little ******) at this revelation).
A lot of mysterious things are happening. Clearly there's a new group we know nothing about, possibly related to that warehouse group.
Only one of the water carrying bad guys tackling the Connors and Derek/Cameron was a terminator, is this right? The one that took down Cameron had info on her chip removal, so does this hint at a new faction of humans and terminator working together?

Maybe the meeting with Weaver and Sarah (which I guess will still take place) will compound on / go some way to answer this.

I don't know but it seems strange that two groups have suddenly appeared to take down the existing cast. Nothing for weeks and then Cameron is ambushed, Sarah is attacked in hospital and they go after Savanah.
It seemed the people going after Sarah were involved in the warehouse group, which she found from talking to the woman who was a man (or something) and we know they've got some kind of terminator technology going by that flying machined that ended up in the lorry.
Are they working with a terminator(s) or building/controlling them?

The warehouse group does see to be tied to Weaver and she appears to be part of a rebel terminator faction working to establish a different SkyNet, one that works with people.
Then there appears to be the 'brother' of John Henry who's been hacking him and controls the water carriers.
Then there's the terminator who came after Savannah of all people, also a water carrier but possibly not part of the group that attacked our heroes last week as if you've got a terminator of your own you don't send humans after Cameron with dodgy intel.
Possible Factions
SkyNet rebels
SkyNet
John Henries Brother and his Freman
Connor Clan
Jessie and other Resistance fighters anti Future!Johns pro Metal stance
Cameron?

This scene has popped into my head all throughout the week. I think it was such a shock, unexpected hard hitting, realistic and really brave and fresh for a TV program to deal with a main character in this way. The end of this series has really bucked up, wish it had been like this during the Riley-days.
"Please Mr Fox Exec. You can't cancel my show. I'll wear lingerie for you."
