Nintaus PDVD-N9769 (https://www2.setssl.com/~hivizone/dvdplayer/main_frame.htm)

Powered by Sage's FLI2200 de-interlacer with DCDi™ technology by Faroudja.
Powered by Zoran VADDIS IV DVD decoder.
Outputs both PAL and NTSC progressive signals.
Built-in HDCD decoder.
Built-in PAL-to-NTSC and NTSC-to-PAL converters.

Im after a progressive scan DVD player for my projector as its agreed it gives a far better picture when using a component connection with progressive scan rather then my current s video connection from my present tosh SD11E.

The above is only around £180 delivered and apparently it uses a high quality chip (not sure what this means) thats used in higher spec and priced DVD players.

Also theres the new Lecson out soon for around £200 but not sure if this will do as good a job as the Nintaus.

Any advice or thoughts.

Thanks

Brad, haven't got a clue mate but it the technical spec sounds awesome!:D

I mean, you can't go wrong with a "Zoran VADDIS IV" can you?

Cheers

I like the fact that it does NTSC and PAL progressive and apparently it uses internal chips and decoders that are in higher priced machines.

I agree with you though, it sounds awsome inside if I knew what It all ment lol. That saga chip is supposed to be excellent ive heard.

I bought this one, after selling the older model (9901), just because this one couldn't read DVD+R. This one does, and I'm very happy with it, except for the fact that the older model didn't have any copy-protected restrictions and this one does (found out that last night).

I'm going to work on that one.

I'll be in touch.:)

I have read reviews on these Nintaus and they said the picture quality did not live up to the claims.
Plus its got budget DVD player build quality.

I read this some time ago though.

I would expect picture quality to be inferior to your Tosh (even though the Nintaus is progressive scan).

Its like sticking a Philips TV tube in a Bush widescreen TV. It does not make it have as good picture quality as a Philips :nono:

I think Nintaus' great advantage is its wide format reading capability.

But I'm quite happy with the image it provides (even without progressive scan).
