I made the mistake of listening to my mates AV amp and now I'm hooked and want to get one. Currently I only have a nicam stereo 28inch goodmands TV and 2 Wharfdale Diamond 4 speakers which I have had for donkeys years.

I'm thinking of getting either the Marantz SR4200 or the SR5200 from the DVD forums special offers. I have a few questions.

1. Would my diamond 4 speakers be any good as rear speakers?
2. What would people recommend for the front set of speakers and a centre speaker?
3. Which of the Marantz amps would you recommend if I dont want to use the additional rear speaker (nowhere to put it)? I like the idea that the SR5200 has a programmable remote and higher wattage outputs, worth the extra?

Ideally I dont want to spend much more than 500 quid on 3 speakers and the amp but I could be pursuaded to spend more.

I was looking at the Tannoy MXC as a centre speaker, is it any good and what should I buy to go with it?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Dave

Here's a couple of ideas:

Marantz SR4200 - £250
Mission Cinema 72 (5 speaker pack) - £283

OR if you're definitely keeping your wharfedales for the rear:

Marantz SR4200 - £250
Mission M72 (pair) - £120
Mission M7C centre speaker £72

Where from, only seen them for 350 quid?

Thanks

www.qed-uk.com - I haven't used them myself, but you should be able to get somewhere like Richer Sounds to price match.
